I have a 1998 navigator and when I start it up in the mornings it sounds like one of my lifters are ticking. After about 2 maybe 3 minutes its gone. Has anyone had this problem, if so how can I fix it.
Thanks

How is your oil level looking? I would also get a K&N oil filter or some equivalent with an anti-drain back valve to keep the oil where it is needed on startup. IIRC the Walmart brand filter is actually a very good filter and has the valve.

It might be the cam belt tensioner, Mark VIIIs had that problem. Its not a big deal unless it happens all the time, not just at startup.
I would just recommend using the recommend oil weight but using Mobil 1 instead. The protection of synthetic oil just can't be matched. smile.gif

Check to see if all the exhaust bolts are still intact. On my 98 navi (with 118k miles) I can also hear the click-sound when it starts, and it's the exhaust... check under that car and verify that all of them are there, should be 16 of them ;)
good luck
