Is there any issue with removing the resoantor at the rear of the vehicle? I am looking at running straight dual pipes out the back.....I know if may sound a little rougher and possibly gain a few horses.

Since the Aviator is a new product, and I do not know if companies like Flowmaster/Magnaflow/Borla make cat backs for the 02-present Ford Explorer, I'll give you some general concepts.
Drone from the exhaust at certain RPMs will happen without a resonator...it may or may not be a big deal. A custom designed dual exhaust with a crossover or different mufflers can eliminate drone. Again this is generally speaking.
I'd check into some of the exhaust systems that are available for the 1991-01 Ford Explorer...that design can give you some insight as to what will give you the sound and the HP without making it drone. smile.gif

There is a version of the Mountaineer that has twin chrome tips on the driver's side as I recall. That might be an easy install. Looks like they both attach just before the real axle.
