In the same vein as the Lincoln Continental, Mark VII and Mark VIII...the Lincoln Aviator is bestowed with a restrictive airbox from the factory. I removed the intake silencer and opened up the airbox to make the Aviator growl a little more and inhale DEEPLY when you hit the gas.
I took some pics and will make a write-up on it very soon. Basically it involves removing the air filter box, drilling some holes, and removing the restrictive snorkel. I also made a plastic shield for the airbox to block it off from most heat from the radiator. Unlike adding aftermarket cold air kits, this looks completely stock and wouldn't draw any attention when you take it in for warranty work. You'd have to run your hand across the side of the airbox to notice the difference.
I was impressed with the "audio" results: not too loud at all but it sounds MEAN! The power may or may not be better (I just got the truck so I am being gentle with the throttle until it breaks-in a bit) but the sound was well worth the effort!
Stay tuned, fellow Aviator owners...all 3 of you. ;)
