Hi,
I have become the proud owner of not one but two 1984 Lincoln Continental 2.4L Turbo Diesels. (Not one weak moment but two!)
I like the uniqueness of these cars as well as their quality, looks and destinct styling.
They will not see track like most of the ones talked about on this site, but they will get 40 to 50 mpg in style with thier BMW engine and Austrian transmission!
Would like to have information on the history of these cars. Ford made just a few and then abandoned them. Are there sites that I could go to or someone to contact with information? Thanks, TurboDiesel

your talking about the MK7 turbodeisel I imagine,,Ford actually made quite a few of these but most were shipped overseas,,I have seen a few at the junkyard but never seen a running one,,I have even seen an LSC one with dual exhaust!!From what I have benn told the parts for the Bimmer engine are very expensive and is the reason most of these cars get junked when they break..
I wish you luck,,they are destined to be an Automotive rarity.

TurboDiesel-welcome to the board! We hope to hear more from you soon about these rare Lincolns you have obtained. I have found a small group of fellow turbo diesel owners you may wish to contact for further info on your vehicles - hope this helps you and you'll keep us posted on what you find out!

My service manual shows a Mark VII diesel in '86 too. That's impressive mileage by the way, beating many Escort and Rabbit diesels with manual transmissions. How about those Tempo diesels with the optional 5 speed? I believe the Tempo and Escort diesels were Mazda-sourced with the Mazda manual transmissions. Too bad interest dried up for diesels after the american manufacturers finally got the bugs out of them.

Thanks for the responses to my query.
The cars are true Continentals with 4 doors on them. Sorry, not Marks!
I am just in the process of putting the first engine back together. It came with the injector pump off and lots of parts in a box.
Had to rebuild the suspension first by replacing the rear bags. It now starts but has some fuel line leaks to work out then will drive it. Have put on new brakes, replaced all fluids, etc. Next will be the paint and interior work. (want to have it nice) The other one I have not seen yet, will pick it up in two weeks.
Regarding the MPG. I only relate what the previous owners have related to me. Will be testing it soon. The cars have dual exhaust, but it is fed from a single exhaust and then Y's to two smaller pipes!
Thanks DaKat for the other site. It seems to have low usage but will try to get info from them.
Am not a mechanic really, just a piddler. The only salvation has been the wonderful manual the local Ford garage had on the engine. (Lots of pictures,,lol)
Apreciate any information I can find on these cars, Thanks,,,,TurboDiesel
