I cant seem to get the defrost vents to work.
I hit the defrost button but the air flow stays on the floor setting. If anyone knows what to do or has a question let me know. Thanks for any help you may have.

This is a strech but I think you have a 4 button control head with a combination blower speed control and temprature control on the right side.
The OFF, VENT, DEFROST AND HEAT are on two conector cables.
I don't have much info but seems that the door control to change air direction is the problem.
Either stuck, broken drive, coroded connector or ??? if all the other functions work.
There should be two vacuum hoses on a regulator at the back end of the Knob control assembly.
I don't have the operational discription or the door operation info.
I'm envious, of you 462 cu/in 340 hp engine vs my little 302. :D
Not much help but maybe a start.

Thanks for the info bluegrass any help i can get is a plus. There is nothing wrong with the 302 and it's cheaper to fix. Plus you can probably get after market parts or high performance parts for it and I can't. Thanks again for your help I'll let you know if it works!!!

Check the vacuum lines that go through the firewall to operate the a/c door mechanism (if the mechanism is vacuum operated). This is a common problem on 80s Lincolns, but my only knowledge of 60s Fords was with my 1965 Galaxie.
Since it didn't have A/C and I live in Houston, I barely used the system and used the flow-thru ventilation instead. smile.gif

If there is a vacuum ball under the hood, try running the two lines into each other, the ball serves as a reserve vacuum for when you are on the gas and there is little vacuum to move the doors.
It is defenitly a duct door problem.Usually controlled by vacuum, which is why I say this.
