my 85 continental's air suspension isn't working. I was fixing a smoking wire on the air pump commpressor and sparked it like a dumby and now I can't get any power to the pump. I checked the pump and it still works, and checked the one relay at the pump, and the fuse under the dash plus changed the air compressor computer in the trunk and still no power to the pump. I'am I missing something? I have power at the computer but the pump still won't come on with the key. I even changed the on and off switch still nothing. It was working great never had any problems with it ever. The pump was pumping out 117 psi. I even tryed to track down the wires and nothing. Any help is very apprieated. Or I guess I'll have to take it to the dealer. I'd hate to get rid of the car when everything else works on this 75,000 mile car.

CHECK TO SEE IF THERE IS NOT A FUSIBLE LINK

how did you check the pumps psi give specifics wanna check mine. what did you use

On my 92 LSC theres a blk/yel fuseable link from the starter relay post that feeds through a relay to the air compressor.
It may be wired the same for your car. Just a guess.

Theres a air nozzle on the pump and i used a digtal tire gauge on it when the pump was running.

I checked the fuseable link and it had power out.

now from the fusible link to the compressor there is still no power so follow the wire every inch or so to see if perhaps the wire didnt fry

The fusable link(blk/yel) feeds the compressor relay at pins 2&3(both bly/yel). Pin 2 is the pull-in coil of the relay and is ground actuated through the air susp control module.
Pin 3(blk/yel)is the power feed for the pump once the pull-in is activated. It comes out Pin4(pnk/org)directly to the pump. The pump then completes the circuit to ground through the (grey) wire.
Note: If your brake lite switch is On the pump won't work, so check your brake switch too.
Which color wire was smoking originally?

I belevie it was the grey wire that gos to the relay from the conector from the switch that was smoking. The ABS brake light dosn't stay on. I checked the wire all the way to the fire wall then lost it under the dash on the pass side of car.

No I didn't mean the ABS Lite;I meant the brake lite switch. Just get someone to step on the brake pedal to see if the brake lites come on and off with releasing the pedal.
Now get a 12volt test lite; hook clamp to battery ground; Then probe the Blk/yel wire at the compressor relay at terminals 2 & 3. There should be power there.
Then probe the DB/Y wire at the 1 term of the relay. There should be power there.
Then probe the Pnk/org wire #4 term of the relay. There should be no power until you turn the ignition switch On.
With the ign sw On probe the Pnk/org wire at the compressor, it should have power. If the compressor isn't running, make a ground wire and connect to the terminal of the compressor where the Grey wire is connected and ground to the frame. The compressor should run. If it does you've got a bad Grey ground wire.
Also theres a diode in the relay; if its blown the power from the pnk/org wire willgo straight through the grey wire to ground. that may have been what was causing the grey wire to smoke.
Let me know what you found after all these checks.
