As we all know the auto-dimming rearview mirrors on our Continentals are crap after a couple years, well I e-mailed Magna-Donnelley a couple weeks ago and told them how many times my mirror has been replaced (3X) and they way that they've failed. I also told them that I KNOW for a fact that I'm not the only consumer with a Continental that is experiencing thee problems. Well I did not ASK for anything in the E-mail, nor did I imply that I wanted anything in return I just simply stated that I hope they have remedied(sp) the situation with their newer line of Auto-dimming mirrors. Well today I recieved a Fed-Ex package containing their latest auto-dimming/compass/maplight rear-view mirror?!?!?! Wow!!! I'm so thrilled I could just....Spit :D Thats great customer service ain't it.

EXCELLENT!!!!

The mirror is either held on by an Allen screw or by an internal u-shaped clip. The clip acts like a leaf spring on a truck...that will require a screwdriver and some gentle prodding to release it. If you are gonna risk scratching the car with the screwdriver, just pull the mirror off the windshield and reglue with clear epoxy it later. smile.gif

Hey Freddie B. I am in dire need of a mirror too. All of the liquid inside leaked onto my dash. This will be the forth one for me. LM wants $504.00 each time. I sent an email to Donnelly yesterday to the Customer care center. No response as of yet. Which department did you send too and long did it take for a response. I did not send a house address.

Hey Freddie B. Thanks for posting this. Again Magna Doneely pulled through. Just recieved the latest mirror upgrade. Free of charge. It does not utilize a liquid for glare control. It sure is nice being able to see through the mirror.

Congrats SteveL!! Sorry I didn't reply to you earlier but I haven't been online in a hot minute. The newer version of the mirror is quite fantastic isn't it? It doesn't dim quite as fast as the previous model, and its color doesn't quite match the liquid crystal still in use in the drivers door mirror but thats quite fine by me. smile.gif Free is GOOD.

An easy and safer way ti remove the metal bracket from the windshield is with a cigarette lighter, just heat the center for about 30 seconds and with a pair of pliars grasp it give it a slight twist and with very little effort it will come off.
