The Moon Roof Switch button fell out today. I checked with the local dealler. He says the entire assembly including the switch, button, sun glass holder, garage door opener, etc., must be replaced...they don't sell separate components. The cost.....$454.

Is this correct?

If so, any idea where I can find a used part?

Thanks

What???
You need to tell them to go "eff" themselves.
That switch should be replaceable, unless it's now obsolete. It's engineering part #15B691.
Does the switch still work but the rocker cover doesn't stay on?

On Town Cars they sell the switch or just the plastic rocker arm.

Franco,
The parts counter gave me Part no %519A70 which shows the entire assembly. He gave me a copy of the drawing from the microfiche. I do not see a part tyhat looks like the switch.

The switch button fell out because it broke off. i know that over the past 2-3 months the switch was balky. Not sure if it was because the switch itself is/was going bad or the button wasn't making the proper contact.

I just pulled the switch. There is a Ford part no on the Switch V72268.

The switch is about 2 1/2 " long with a green circuit bd. in the middle (about 3/4' square. There are four wires soldered on the circuit bd.black yellow red and blue/black stripe. The wires are connected on the opposite end to a four wire modular plug. Anyone know if this is the same switch on the TC or other Ford products?

Tom,
The info I have is from the Helms/Ford CD manuals.
Here's their info on how to remove & install the electric roof panel switch(which you already know since you just removed it, but thought it might help)...

Switch

Removal

1. Remove switch bezel by inserting a small flat-bladed tool into the slot located at the front end of the bezel; rotate the tool and unsnap the bezel.

2. Remove two roof console retaining screws. Remove roof console (519A58) from roof bracket.

3. Carefully spread the two connector retaining fingers and remove roof sliding panel switch (15B691) and wiring connector from the roof console.

4. Using a small flat-bladed tool, pry the roof sliding panel switch from the connector.

Installation

1. Position roof sliding panel switch to the connector and press firmly into place.

2. NOTE: The connector retaining tabs are two different widths which correspond to the two cutouts on the connector.

Position roof sliding panel switch to the roof console and snap the connector retaining tabs onto the connector.

3. NOTE: The roof console is keyed and can only be installed one way.

Position roof console to the roof bracket and install two retaining screws.

4. Position the bezel to the roof console with the slot toward the front of the vehicle and press firmly into place.

Well at least you know you won't be out hundreds of dollars to replace it.
Even if the dealer has no listing for it on your particular year, perhaps you can cross reference it with another model that shows an avail replacement OR just get one from a salvage yard as a last resort.

Ford/Lincoln greed never ceases to amaze me.
