Has anyone ever added a overhead DVD monitor to their Lincoln's?
I have been thinking about putting this monitor (http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-nWMQHVd9njR/ProdView.asp?I=158XVMR70) in my Lincoln mounted right behind my sun/moon roof glass.
I also was thinking of havingthis DVD player (http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-nWMQHVd9njR/ProdView.asp?I=130DVHP500) installed where my old factory CD player was.
I had already replaced my factory am/fm/cassette with a am/fm/xm/Cd player & eliminated my factory CD player below to leave a good hole for the DVD player.
Does anyone know if the overhead monitor will mount to my roof right behind my sun/moon roof glass?
This glass when opened slided into the roof of the car. I'm hoping that this can be done "professionally" because I do have little children & instead of hearing "ARE WE THERE YET" I would much rather hear "DADDY, CAN WE WATCH IT AGAIN"!

No I haven't seen it in a lincoln. You'll probably need some metal strapping welded in but it's really not a big deal for a competent shop. I'd shop around for the installer before I made any purchase because they probably won't give warranty on the electrics if there not purchased there.

You could also put one in each of the headrests. That way you won't have to have somone weld anything to your car body, and the only part you'll wreck is the headrest.

I'm debating doing this one myself.

That there is a decent idea, but I don't think my 90 Continental has head rests large enough . It's been awhile since I have even seen my car, it has been in storage with a bad engine since Sept. I'll have to go and see.

I'm sure there's enough space. You can most likely get a 4" LCD in there without any problems. Remember, it's 4" diagonally, not width or height. Then, if you have 2 monsters, er, I mean, kids, they don't fight over the panel, but if you have more, I feel for you man... j/k but in all seriousness, I couldn't hack more than one kid, ever. I admire people who do it successfully.

They also make contraptions that allow you to just clamp the monitor to the runners on the head rest. Here are a few ideas. (http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-bAWQuXpOTUY/ProdGroup.asp?c=11&g=82000&s=0&cc=01&avf=N&search=)

Have 3, the two oldest (5 & 4) currently live with me & the youngest (2) is with her mother for the time being (hoping that will change).
Monster's? I prefer to call em Demon's!!
Now with those headrest models, what do they do? just mount pernamently in there so they can't be damange by children? I have to have my interior reupholtered anyway, so should that be done before or after if I go that route?

Can't be damaged by children? Isn't that along the same lines as "don't underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups"? Children, especially when paired, can break ANYTHING if given the opportunity. ;) tongue.gif And you should wait to get the upholstery done. Until your youngest is 18. :D
Seriously:
When installed IN the headrest the screen is still present it sits flush with the headrest. The clamp-on still is similar, just the screen is inclosed in the clamp-on casing. Depending on the route you take, I would say to get it reupholtered after the display is installed, but it really shouldn't matter. Either way you are paying people that should be confident to work either way.

Perhaps you can have a simple, removable plate of plexiglas covering the LCD's, since the kids will be able to destroy the screen with little or no effort on their part.

Kids are good for that aren't they!
Thats why I was thinking overhead monitor, It will be harder for them to reach without anyone noticing!
I'll have to do some checking around to see what I can come up with. Maybe just having the monitors installed in the seat backs (not the head rest) could be an option also.
