I had my stock HU out last week installing a 10 disc CD player in the trunk. A couple questions:

1. I dont have the JBL in my Conti. Every non-JBL Ford I have ever seen from this era has 2 flat wiring connectors. My Conti has 1 flat connector for the power/ground/ant ect. The speaker harness connector is a small square connector. There are also two other plug-ins in the HU, one of them for a CD I guess, what is the other one for?

2. I have several JBL amps from my SHO and other Taurus's, can I add these to my stock HU, or are the JBL cars wired completely different?

3. The Audiovox 10 disc changer I installed is a used unit, but was working fine last time I used it about a year ago. The FM modulator can be set on 88.7 or 91.1. Around here both those freqs have radio stations. I cant get anything when set to 88.7, and on 91.1 I can here some sound, but it is very low and distorted. Am I SOL, or can I contact Audiovox and get a different modulator. The CD works fine, just little to no sound.

That's the same plug configuration as my 91' JBL. Seems like it's the same harness. Is your system using a remote amp or built into the HU? I have the upgraded JBL and it actually uses 2 connections to the amp besides the flat power plug. One of those isn't part of the harness but it is a factory cable. I was thinking the other plug might be for the factory phone. I don't really know though. I'm guessing you do have outboard amps by your second question. I'd say if the plug configuration matches, it'll work. There weren't that many variations if it's from the same era.

With the audiovox unit, If it's a built in modulator you'll have to ask them directly. If it's an outboard unit(which I'm guessing is the case) then you can shop other manufacturers for one that has more adjustablity.
