They should fit in the door. You will have to figure out how to get it to mount though. The stupid door speakers have a sort of metal standoff which is how they bolt to the door. You may have to roll your own.

In order to use that factory mount, you'd need a 6" speaker or less. The flange itself is about 6½ across and has a lip rolled towards the back side going about halfway around for strenght. You might be able to bolt the speaker to the back side of the flange. Your speaker isn't quite as deep as the factory.

I am confused. If you are talking about the door speakers in a MarkVII, they are 6 1/2" and those speakers should fit right in. There is a plastic bracket that points the speaker at an angle out of the speaker grill in the door.

well let me try to clarify some, the way the new series is designed is that the middle to bottom area is a little wider than the aftermarkets kenwoods that are in there now. and my true main concern is the depth of the speakers due to the overly large magnets. worried about if i let the windows down if it will scratch them up or even yet block the window from going down. thats my concern, but i should have the car back by friday, so i can teat it out.

Josh, maybe we're talking about two different animals. I have a JBL speaker here from my 91' LSC. It's a 6" driver and it's mounted on a metal flange. You have a 6½" driver on a plastic mount? Seems like we have a JBL/ non-JBL variance here. If you get a chance, log into MIRC.

I'm with Josh, both Mark VII's I've played with had a plastic 4-legged spacer that moved the speaker away from the door itself.
I have 6 1/2" Pioneer 2-ways in the doors now, which were originally mounted in the doors of my old GT, so they fit with no depth mounting issues there as well.
I don't recall what model number they are as it's been a few years, I think they're A16xx-something-or-other.

DS, maybe you should come to mIRC and discuss it with us, since we can't get SQ_LSC to wake up ;)

Seems like they switched to the metal between 89' and 90' and went to a smaller driver. I'm curious if they used any other drivers in the mk7's besides 6" or 6½" rounds?
