Has anyone else noticed the onconsistancies with the stereo harness on the 91 (and perhaps other models') stereo wiring harness? I recently replaced my tape deck with a CD player, and the color-coded harnesses are completely different. I bought the premium sound wiring kit, and ended up having to take it apart and re-do the pinout on it.
Much to my surprize, the large RED wire on the factory side is ground... and contrary to most, if not all, aftermarket stereo color coding, the orange wire on the factory side is for the power antenna, and the blue is illumination. I swear, on my crown vic, all the colors matched on both sides.
Is this just something strange that only has to do with Lincolns or premium sound packages? After a little bit of trial and error, I got everything working correctly, but I was sort of afraid I might hurt something in the process.
Anyone have any problems with the stock premium sound tape player overheating and spitting out tapes? Mine seemed to tolerate about an hour of use before it would reverse the tape a few times then eject it and need cooling down for about 20 minutes.
