Can I replace my dash with a digital dash from another towncar? If so, is it plug and play (i.e. put speedo cable in, attach plugs, and it works)? If the installation is more elaborate, please explain.

Thanks, RJ Sclafani

It appears to be a plug and play. I discussed this in the Town Car forum with Kevin a while back.

The analog cluster has a speedo cable at the back of it. Go to a junkyard and see if the digital unit is the same way. It should be.

If there are any trip computer functions on the digital cluster, you'll want the Tripminder computer and the dash trim that it goes into. But that might be a royal PITA, as I do not know where the wiring for it is in the analog models. It could be right in the dash, or it could be hiding up against the firewall and you'd have to remove the entire dash wiring to get to it.

Thanks, those were my thoughts exactly. I bought one off of ebay the other day for 15 bucks, so if it doesn't work, I'm not screwed for money.

I expect one of the sections will not work without the trip computer installed. But I expect you'll have the speedo, temp and fuel gauge.

Good stuff man. Glad to hear that.
