Town Car Signature

I'm lucky enough to have the Alpine radio and a subwoofer in my car.

So I hit the 'DPS' button and hear the different echo sounds (church, stadium, etc) They don't sound very good.....does anyone know if you can adjust them?

Also, when I hit the 'DPS' again, there is an option for the rear seat, all seat, and driver seats.......I go through them and don't hear a difference.

Checked the manual and it doesn't really help.

Any of you guys have any answers or advice in using my audio system?

And on top of all this.....for some reason on my radio there is a little green square that stays on when the radio is on, I have no idea what it stands for.

System sound good, but I'd like to get the most out of it.

Thanks, hope someone can help.

The Digital Signal Processing button will adjust the stereo to factory defined equaliation curves. They are not user adjustable unfortunately. The seat selection optimizes the stereo for a section of the car, ie the driver's seat or rear seat. The differences aren't extremely noticeable, but there is some difference. For example, selecting the front or driver's seat will decrease rear volume slightly.

What does the square look like? It may denote stereo sound. I don't remember if the Radio Data System has an on indicator.

I looked closely...it's located between a "ST" indicatior and an indicator that looks like headphones.....very wierd.

When I turn on the FM's AM's, and CD's the square is there. When I use the cassette, the square is gone..wierd.

Another question. When the rear speakers are on.....is the subwoofer on also? Or just the two rear speakers??...If so, do I need to hit some sort if switch to turn on the sub??? Or is the sub working when I use the "DPS" for the stadium sound and stuff??

The subwoofer should be working all the time. Certain equalization curves will reduce bass response to correspond with the type of music that is being played. News, for instance, may have it significantly reduced so that a speaking voice is most audible. I remember a squae, but I don't remember it enough to tell you what it means. The ST is for stereo sound and the headphones should mean Dolby. I'll have to check when I get a chance to look at my parents' cars.
