I have a 62 COnti and want to eventually put a nice ssytem in it, but I want to stay stock looking, this means no cutting of the rear deck. Any ideas on how to mount the interior speakers without cutting stuff up? Is this possible?

The only way I can think of to not cut anything would be to put speaker boxes in there, but they look ugly as hell. you could try making mounting brackets to hold up the speakers underneath the rear deck, but I've never seen one in person, so I wouldn't even know if the sound would travel through the deck. hope this helps.

Thanks for the idea. I may just very well try something along those lines. I am also thinking of trying to find some of the slimer speakers and install some boxes under the seats?? Who knows...

My '65 Galaxie had a speaker in the C-pillar near the light. If you can retain the stock housing for a better speaker and just leave the wiring intact, you can run a new speaker and wire up in there. What does the Conti look like up there?
Rear speakers aren't a big deal unless you have people back there. Front speakers and a sub with a decent amp would be about all you need for a stealth install and good sound quality.

I do have a single stock speaker mount in the center-top of the dash. I may be able to work out something with it. Thanks for the tip!

No rear speaker? Wow, my Galaxie was pretty high tech for having that rear speaker! LOL!
I wouldn't bother with rear speakers if there isn't a factory hole for one. Just get the best 6x8", 5x7" or 6x9" for the dash that you can find.

I wouldn't put them in the rear either. Besides that, you would want all your sound to come from the front of the vehicle so you get front stage sound and no phasing to worry about.

Whats up big guy, beautiful car. What are all of your mounting locations factory, where are your air vents or lower quarter panel interior vents. If my memory serves me correctly of that conti you could put a nice component set or speaker in the factory speaker grille cover in the back seat, just watch out with the speaker on the dash, window reflections can create dead spots in your staging and harsh points. But try to get inventive and look for grilles or spots where you can get speakers.
To give you some idea, i took a 69 firebird and put five and a quarter inch components behind the circular air vents and hid the tweeters in the corners. I put six by nines behind the rear seat with amplifiers and subs. Sound excellent!! You do not even know it is there.
Keep us posted

Hi Tim
Here is a way out there somewhere idea, what about hiding some speakers in the roof head lining.
You could maybe drop the head lining a little make some brackets and put some slim speakers in there, the sound would come through the head lining (if it's cloth).
I seem to remember some thin speakers that looked like polystyrene tiles being available.
I still got the Quadrasonic radio/8 Track in my 79 Continental, I have been trying to find an 8 track tape to see if it still works, I know the CB and radio work.

Are you sure there isn't a speaker in the rear parcel shelf? I found that the 1963 Contis had, in the trunk, one mounts for a speaker on the driver's side.
This is what I found on the 'net, but it might be true. If it is, you can duplicate the mount on the passenger side and have two rear speakers.
