Sounds like it could be a bad ground.

Try plugging in a tester, any ford premium sound radio from 89-94 ford cars will work.

Mine did the same thing, with the ant all the way up I could press scan and it would never find a station, with the volume all the way up i could click from preset to preset with an audible bass note, I knew the amp was going cause all the way up a trace of feedback was detectable

Saturday at the wrecks I scoured the F-L-M section and only found one just like mine with the rocker switch volume and a tape, it wa sitting on the seat, also scored a auto dimming rearview from a Conti, Offered the cashier $20 for both and without dispute I was on my way

I put the new radio in and fired it up and heard static from 1 speaker which got me excited, I tuned a station only to find it scratching in and out and playing thru maybe 2 speaks, then it just cut out like mine did and I pressed scan, nothing, and I knew the aerial lead was fine, atleast I only paid $10

Went to circuit city that night and got a cheap pioneer deck for $109 and an intergration kit for the mark Vii, wired the harnesses up and plug it in and it started playing great, the install kit I used was a big box which plugged into the factory amp harness and you had to set the gains low and let the amp continue to push the stock speaks, it was $45 at circuit shittie

I was planning on replacing the stock speaks with a decent set of clarions and running new wires and runnign on them deck power, But as decent as this works I was pondering replacing the speaks with aftermarket and run on the factory amp..............dont know yet and the jbl stuff is probably ten ohm anyway..........someone knows :D

The pioneer deck I bought is a plain jane deh1600, sounds alot better than the stock one now, but doesnt have nearly as many featurs as my wifes deh-p8400mp but that also cost $500 and has 2 electric moving faces which means 2 ribbon cables, I dont like the ribbon connectors and I never plan to install subs or remove the faceplate in the mark so the cheap one with a cd slot still on the face is perfect for me

I use to have a kenwood with motorized d mask which I loved, I think it was a 716s 3 years of use and the ribbon connector broke so the display and all the button quit working, you could still control it a bit with the remote but no cd eject or other adjustments, I was unsold on moving faceplates after that, I was gonna buy a $350 dollar eclipse instead of the 8400 and it had a cd slot also, I know it would last longer than the 2 ribbon connector haveing 8400.........IMO mid priced aftermarket decks last about 3-4 years which is fine cause ya always got a new radio

The stock cd player in my 95 Cougar was junk I took it apart to clean the transport and it was a Sony, In my 95 Gtp the delco deck will only play track 1-6 decently, after that they just skip like crazy

Good luck
