I was monitoring that post when it was active. Where are you at now and what info are you still looking for?

I agree that you should not run multiple subs on that factory amp and you should actually disconnect the factory sub when you upgrade the amp for the subs.

Pepsi was talking about using a line converter. I take the speaker wires coming out of the factory amp into a converter, then from the other end of the converter the RCA plugs go into the aftermarket amp, then connect the speakers.

I'm just worried about burning out the wires that are going into the FACTORY amp, they are thin, like speaker wires.

I'm thinking of getting it professionally installed and be safe. I just don't want the installation place messing up the head unit somehow and effect the car negativly.

yea, pepsi's down with it, that's why I stayed out of the last post. Anyway, I don't see any problem with your rca conversion. It's not how I'd do it but it shouldn't create any mechanical failures. The part that you need to be concerned with is the power for the aftermarket amp. Are you using the power from the factory amp for the aftermarket? What size fuse is in the aftermarket? And, is the factory sub amp still connected to a speaker or has that been disconnected?

For now I was using the power from the factory amp to power the subs. But I haven't rally done a lot of listening to the radio until I get the answers (which I'm getting and they're really helpful!)

My original plan was to hook the factory amp to the after market amp then to the subs. I just didn't want to mess with any wires going INTO my factory amp, I just get worried.

That way, one set of wire will go to my mini-sub from the factory amp, and splice the wires from the mini sub to the after market amp.

I was thinking of doing things the long way because they seemed more simple.

But after AAAALLLLLLL the messages, I think I'll get if proffesinally done....nothing beats peace of mind....you know??

Thanks for the help!!!!!!!

Peace of mind would be doing it myself, that way I know it's done right and the way I want it, but I'm just anal about everything on my car. Good luck with your subs.
