86 LSC stereo problems

Stock ford premium sound cassette stereo rarely brings in station at startup most of time loud static & won't bring in stations hit scan button & it just keeps running doesn't stop on any stations then sometimes after driving awhile out the blue it will come in.Also speakers cut out intermitently & now cassette stop working can hear it running but won't play tape.I know it's old & I should trash it but can't afford new stereo.Any suggestions,HELP PLEASE.

check your local boneyard for a ford deck that matches up.

Yep sounds like the ol ford radio is done. Boneyard radios should run ya about 30-45 tops.
