Tachometer on '91 Mark VII

[Darkwing Mark VII]

Hello All;
A week ago I bought a 1991 Mark VII LSC. It is in excellent shape. All original, everything works except the tach. It sometimes works, but most often the dial jumps to about 4000 RPM and sits there for a while then returns to normal briefly...then jumps back up. I've heard that this may be a common problem. Does anyone have any solutions? :confused:

I dont own a mark but i have experience with guages so double check with the veterans here.

I think the windings in the tach gauge are going out. Might be just replacement. time. Junk yard part.

Ok, there my two cents. But dont take it to a coinstar machine or they take away 8 cent on a dollar so screw them.

I believe you found the answer in another post, but just in case, try the ground wire fix first.
