:D

Many or even most of us still have the factory head units in our Lincolns, which came with a cassette player instead of CD or MP3 players.

I would like to offer some personal testimony with a product that I recently bought for myself and my wife.

The Digisette is a fully-functional MP3 player shaped exactly like a cassette tape:

You hook it to your computer using the USB cable, import songs and then pop the whole thing into your car's cassette.

My JBL audio system has never sounded better. I was AMAZED at this product and I'll use it every day from now on.

This product was released in 2001 I believe, but was well over $200 then. You can get them from ebay for $50 (new in the box) while the guy still has them. I've bought four so far (extras for gifts) but I have no affiliation with the seller other than to say he may not speak english but he's top-notch.

The manufacturer is Digisette:

Their web site home page. (http://www.Digisette.com)

You can buy extra batteries directly from Digisette. They are NiMH rechargeables and with the coupon in the box you get two extras for $19.95. Battery lasts 4 to 6 hours in the car's cassette deck before needing a charge. You can also buy a 12V car charger, but to me the point is that you don't want wires hanging all over your dash.

You can buy a similar unit directly from the manufacturer's web site for about $80, but it is lower-end model than the $50 one on ebay.

All four of mine came in their original boxes with a piece of tape re-sealing them. The tape had "Quality Checked" written on it. Apparently this seller is clearing out stock that did not sell and was returned from retail stores. One of the four that I bought had an original Radio Shack price tag of $199.99 on it.

The base unit contains 96MB of memory - about an hour and a half. You can buy and add a 256MB MMC Multimedia Memory Card, which adds in another 4 hours of music storage space.
