hi im lscgoddess98
i find that before actually applying any products such as cleaners and then the cream protectants...i tend to use a bucket of hot water and a mild soap, wipe down everything dash, panels and all seats with a nice thursty rag..if ur a smokeer ur gonna need to do this..to get that ciggerett smoke,(lol or any other smoke off the surface..wring out rag once in a while).and then apply the leather cleaner with seperate clean rag..rubb it in well, and then last apply the cream..with another clean rag,let sit so it penatrated the grain..and rub lightly.and there ya are!
i tend to to this every 3 mths or so!
my baby is whooohaah! ;)

lscgoddess98 - Wow, you do all of that? I just spray some armorall leather protectant and rub it in. Any pics? Maybe even write up an article, though it's very simple, could help out other Lincolns Online members keep their leather in good condition.

I recommend using Lexol™ brand Leather Treatment.. it's an odd beige/tan/cream colored fluid. It's definately helped prolong the life of the seats, and it helps add a very nice luster...
To anybody who hasn't tried it before, I'd recommend doing so. As far as my car goes, the guy I bought it from was a smoker, and I've been using Febreze like a pimp uses women... it smells nice but it doesn't work like it should. I've stripped the car out and shampooed the bejesus out of the carpet and everything, but I never thought about doing what you suggested. Maybe I'll try it once I get some free time.

There is a chemical out there than can get rid of cigarette smoke odor. You just spritz a little on the carpet and it's gone. I think it's called No Smoke. It's not cheap and I'm not sure where you can get it. Hotels use it to deoderize rooms where somone smoked. Try asking them to see if you can get a bottle from the supplier. I can verify it works. I used it when I had a summer job as a front desk clerk at a local hotel.

Hmm, I'll look into it... sounds like the same basic principal as Febreze, though. Spray on and it dries odors out with it. Thanks for the advice, though. I'll look into that.

Sadddle soap cleans, softens, conditions and leaves a nice smell (use as much water as needed, depending on how dirty your leather is.) Finish with preservative of your choice.
A lot of the cigarette smell gets absorbed by the headliner, though, and I'm not sure how to get rid of that.

I like Mink Oil after first using saddle soap on my leather. Works great. The Mink Oil helps preserve the stitching as well.
(I found this out after using it on the leather seats and saddle bags of my motorcycle.)
As far as "smoke", I'm a pipe smoker and anytime I take my pipe in the car, I break the drivers side window a tad. Sucks the smoke right out.

I used to use Armor All on my leather but a friend turned my on to Maguires yesterday. He's a Cadillac man but swears by that stuff. I'll proly be redoing my leather this afternoon.
I have a '92 TC Cartier series ;)

I'm not a fan of Armor All. It's too greasy. However, it does do a decent job on some plastics. I'll be using it under the hood and on select areas. It's way too reflective on the dash. I like Meguiar's and Lexol for leather care.

I do a leather conditioner twice a year - Meguiers - and use pledge the rest of the time. 10 year old car with 111k -no cracks or tears, looks nearly new
