My '93 TC had yellowed headlights. I read two tech articles regarding buffing. I didn't have a buffer, nor the time for that much work so I put it off. Went to Autozone for headlamp bulbs. The salesperson replaced the bulbs, came back out with a 99-cent pak of metal polish and a rag. He buffed the glaze right off by rubbing. I did the other side and now have two plastic lamps that look like glass. ;)

Two articles? I just remember one, that one being mine. ;)

Yeah those polishes work well on a yellowed light that isn't rough and pitted from road rash. If the light starts yellowing again, you might have to go aggressive and do the sandpaper route.

Remember to wax your headlights often so this won't happen again. smile.gif

I go a step beyond just polish on mine. I have found some stuff from Meguiars that is a fine cut scratch remover. That works very well and then I do the polish and wax. I tried doing the tech tip and was stumped as to getting out the headlight assembly for quite a while. I think I will just stick to the cleaning that I do and leave the headlights in the car.

As a side note to cover my ass, Don't need Pro starting to think we don't appreciate all his efforts with the tech articles. And every other moderator, administrator, or everyone else that write tech articles too. I did the tech tip first so my headlights where as good as they could be and then maintain it with the cleaner stuff.

Novus #2 plastic polish does a great job on dingy yellowed headlites. 8 oz. for 6 bucks.

I am an EMT, not that you couldn't probably tell from my sign-on. Anyway, on the ambulances we use something called "plexus" on the lightbars. It takes out the fine scratches and leaves them looking 100%. I have used it on the plastic headlights of several cars that I have owned, and it makes them look new also. You can get it many places, but this link is the best that I have found, but I am sure if you looked around you may do better. http://www.plexusplasticcleaner.com/
It really does wonders, headlights, taillights, blinkers, etc.
Most ambulance services and fire departments swear by the stuff. Just as good as mothers chrome cleaner. tongue.gif :D
