This seems so silly, but I will share anyways. I have had my Mark VII for going on 2 years now. Being 6'3 I tend to stay out of the back seat as much as possible. Which means the rear window doesn't get cleaned that often, not to mention the area behind the 3rd brake light. Yes, for 2 years now I have filth behind the brake light. Today I deceided to give it a go and clean the rear window, and finally noticed that little black plug that covers the screw, holding the brake light cover to the bracket. Once removed that cover slid over enough to reach back there and vaccuum numerous insects who have met their maker, and give that old back window a good scrubbing. It seems so simple, but who thinks of bringing a screw driver with you when climbing into the back seat for cleaning the windows. Its a simple detail trick that will impress the guy driving behind you.
