Hmmm. Ice is the only thing I've ever heard of that works on gum, but that might only take care of the biggest part of the piece stuck on the seat.
Better wait to see who else chimes in with an idea ;)

The magical cleaner called OOPS! You can buy it at any hardware, k-mart-ish, and paint store. It will remove ink, gum, decal glue, and quite a bit of other stuff.
Yes Ice dose well too. I have used one of those cans of compressed air, turned it upside down and the blast of frozen, compressed air will instantly cause the gum to freeze like a rock.

Trust this Painter when I say Oops will take the color out of the spot! Best thing to use is an ice cube, get the gum as hard as you can! then scrap it out with a plastic scrapper!

I won't say it couldn't happen, I have never had oops change the color of any thing I have ever used it on.
My luck could change.
I have even used it to remove the ink from an expensive shirt and It did well.

Try acetone, lighter fluid or a petroleum based solvent. I assume you mean you have an old, dried up, smashed in wad of gum. If you're careful and only apply it to the gum, any of these should work on the chemicals gum is made of nowadays to soften it up again. Then, try to scrape it off or lift it off.

Go to your local cleaning suply store (the place where carpet cleaning companys get their stuff) get the can of the freeze stuff i cant remember the name but my uncle cleans carpets for a living and it freezes just like an ice cube would do but it only takes like 5 seconds and it will remove gum from any thing. The only thing is a can of this stuff is like 12 $. Good luck.

Agreed - compressed air, very cold. Freeze the gum and break it off. I had to do this to get some out of the seat on our Oldsmobile, it worked great and only took a few seconds.

You can also try "Dust Off", it's the can of air they sell at wal mart or best buy for cleaning your key board. If you shake it and turn it upside down, the spray come out and freezes the gum like ice and then it should peel right off. I have used it to remove gum from my carpet and it worked. Oops should work too and it shouldn't damage the upolstery. GOOD LUCK!!

GOO GONE is the stuff, I used it once on my pants, I whent to the movies and somebody left a present on the seat and I did not feel it until the end so it was soft and very stuck.
You have to wait for 2 min and scrubb it goes off in little pieces and smells like orange!
They sell it in Wall Mart, I have seen it in other stores, it also helps with lipstick and crayons so its very popular.
