what can i use to restore my half top on my 86 towncar signature series? there's no cracks, but it is dull, armor all washes off after a few days. is there a polish for the vinyl top? i want to save the top before it gets any worse, i'll bet it's a fortune to have the top replaced
thanks
scott :D

You may laugh at this for a black top I used black paste shoe polish and a shoe brush. Worked for me! :D

Bluegrass I have been told that works by many people thru the years so To me that is actually not odd. In fact I was told to get some shoe polish from a military base. What they use works wonders.

I have heard that shoe polish is great too.

I bet any waxy/oily product for leather will work good. I have used Obenauf's oil (see the thread about leather) on vinyl and it looks great and lasts a loooooong time. The motorcycle guys swear by that stuff. smile.gif

Shoe polish should work. Kiwi is a good one. I don't know much about vinyl tops, but I would probably recommend POLISH, not creme. There is a difference, I promise. I would imagine the best way to do this is with a stiff sponge and old stockings. Us the sponge to apply the polish. Rub it in good, kinda like car wax; but don't kill yourself. ;) Then take the old nylons and "polish" the top. Both my parents were in the military, and that is what they have always done. I use nylons on my dress shoes, it makes for a great shine. Just like waxing a car, once the stuff is on there the important part is buffing it off. So go at it with the nylons, the more you buff the more the top should shine. Shoe polish is wax based, so I am sure you can tell the parallel to car waxing. Good luck, let us know how it turns out.
