Lincoln Plans Two D3 Sedans

Lincoln's future sedan plans could include two vehicles spun from the same D3 platform that has already bred the Ford Five Hundred/Freestyle/Montego trio. Automotive News reports that Lincoln will follow its new Zephyr sedan due this fall with a pair of upscale sedans based on the Volvo/Ford platform that has spawned the Five Hundred sedan. The new sedans would replace the LS rear-driver with a new mid-size sedan from the new platform in 2007. A larger four-door would bow in 2008 and may be dubbed the Continental. Both would be powered by a version of the Yamaha-built 4.4-liter V-8 recently introduced in the Volvo XC90 sedan. Both vehicles would be built in Atlanta alongside a new crossover vehicle coming for Lincoln.

That's sounding hot and you know they'll probably make it AWD on that platform. But, Ford, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back the Mark series true to it's heritage. After that truck flops, nice as it is, maybe they will do just that and we'll have 2-door eye candy again.

Well its certainly better than nothing! With any luck their style (looking at the concept cars, many of them are real elegant looking) might save them in the face of odd looking imports and those razor edge Caddies..

I guess the shoshop (www.shoshop.com) is gonna be the next Hot Rod Lincoln toystore. smile.gif :(

Throwback to the Hi-Po Taurus SHO engines, that's what that Yamaha thing is about. Foreign, but not all bad...

Basically the same motor as a 1998 Taurus SHO, but with more displacement. Its actually a VERY good thing, even if the motor is turned the wrong direction. smile.gif
