I for one am quite optimistic...

Considering the first Zephyr is what brought Lincoln out of the dumps after the depression, reintroducing this name is quite ironic.
FROM BLUE OVAL NEWS:
Baby LS To Be Unveiled At NYIAS
27 March 2004

BlueOvalNews has confirmed that Ford Motor Company will officially introduce the long awaited "Baby" Lincoln LS at the 2004 NYIAS (New York International Auto Show) on 07 April 2004.
Lincoln has decided to call the new model the ZEPHYR - a name that harkens back the to original 1936 model.
The vehicle will be built off of the Mazda platform that will also be shared with other Ford models. Lincoln plans to market the Zephyr as the entry level Lincoln below the LS. Pricing should be close the $30,000 U.S.D. - hopefully, without massive incentives or rebates.

This is very intersting, buisness moves in the car world interest me so much!! :D This may exactly be what Lincoln needs. An affordable Lincoln, it can work look at the Mercedes C-Class coupe that car is cheaper and sells fairly well. smile.gif

It should be a lot like the new Volvo S40, if you read the car magazines you'll remember that is the one with the real elegant aluminum center stack on the dash.
Combine this shape and dimensions with that of the concept Lincoln Aviator we saw a few months ago and I think Lincoln will have a winner. smile.gif

You got a good point mPro, I think a waterfall grille some chromatic fixtures, different tailights, A beautiful leather and burlwood interior would make the car perfect, we can't forget a nice Ford V6 either, maybe a 3.8L v6. WILL DO THE JOB :D ;)

LOL...the 3.8L is a small speed bump in history! If they are smart they'll use the 3.0L Duratac from the Mazda 6 and bump it up to 250hp. But they aren't so I expect 220hp max. :(

It's a front drive platform with the ability to go AWD right? If it sells as well as the V6 Continental, it could be a great thing for Lincoln. I just hope they get the styling right. I thought the last round of concept cars was weak and a little unappealing. I didn't like the grille designs at all. They looked to busy and seemed like a slap in the face to the clean lines it was meant to hail. The original Blackwood sold like crap because it wasn't a real pick up, but it looked great and it looked like a Lincoln. The new one looks like an F150 with a cheap nose job, but it is a truck.
I'm really sad to see the Marauder go. It had so much potential. That proposed supercharger could have done wonders. I hear Lincoln Mercury dealers want a sporty two door and they may get it from a Mustang based Cougar. A retro Cougar or even a modern looking cougar would be great.

Cougar shmouger! Where's the Mark IX?! Or X for that matter. Hear me out. Mark IX based on the Jaguar XKR would be fantastic. The XKR is long, it's a coupe, and if you look at it carefully you can almost see that signature Lincoln hump in the back. I just don't know the specs on the car. But if a 4.6L DOHC engine fits in there. COOL

I love the XKR. It would indeed make a great Mark IX if they stayed away from the current styling trend and went for an organic shape. I just hate the Cadillac Art & Science or Chris Bangle school of design. Ian Callum and Geoffrey Lawson are more to my taste. If they kept the Jag V8, it wouldn't be a bad thing, even though we like our 4.6L. I wonder how much power variable valve timing would add to a DOHC Cobra motor. US manufacturers are really slow to adapt this new technology. Why must they always play catch up? You'd think they'd learn from the import invasion of the '70s.
