Aside from the weak motor and Mazda roots, that is a nice looking car! The trunk isn't as boxy as the pictures show, though it hardly has the fender flares and muscular stance of the LS...
Honestly, its just tall, boxy, and has a gigantic ass all cars these days. So it doesn't really suck more than most cars out there.
But the interior? Wow! That's a nice looking place to sit in traffic.

Well the new Lincoln interiors are a lot better than offerings from other car companies. It's not the interior I doubt but the rest. I'll keep my eyes peeled though. I guess Hillary Clinton looks better in person too  .
Allright fes up Pro! How much they pay you keep your mouth shut? $5grand? A Mark II? An Intech Conti perhaps? ;)

Hey now, my last date was much more than just a gigantic ass...thank you very much!!! ;)
SC, no bribing, and if this less-than-ringing endorsement would get me a Mark II, imagine what I'd get if I really said that thing is the cat's ass!

I commend the effort in reporting the Zephyr sighting though!
That reminds me: I almost missed the Zephyr at the show...I looked at the Mark LT for a while (cool, but stupid at the same time) and since the whole L-M division is a yawner, I almost overlooked the car in the center stage!
Its nice, but let's face it, the new Avalon is a better car inside, outside, and under the hood.
And man, does it pain me to say that!

Man Pro you weren't kidding. The new Avalon looks great. And it's 280hp V6 is sure to lure many people in. The interior is rich in detail and doesn't look too cheap and tacky like say...a Nissan. After looking at this, the zephyr doesn't stand a chance except to those who only buy american which doesn't seem to be holding ground as it use to.

Isn't that horrible? Not only is the Avalon more American (made here, engineered here, just like the Camry) but even its name is sounding American.

I live in the Vale of Avalon, it is where King Arthur and his knights of the round table used to hang out, all part of the Athurian legend, so I think it sounds more English smile.gif

I too saw the Zephyr in person in Toronto and have to dissent about the interior a bit. Both a friend and I thought the dash looked like something that belongs in a F-150. Worse though is the fact that when you start looking at what you'd want to drive in a new mid size car the Nissans, G35's and Acuras look like so much better value than what Ford has on offer....I haven't heard anybody saying they can't wait to see a 500. The Fusion works visually but who trusts a CVT? Both Ford and GM have so many new models and names who knows what price bracket you're looking at to make comparisons with. I know what a Camry, Accord, Altima,6 is but what's a 500 is that a Taurus or a Crown Vic? what's an Epica Aveo, Allure? Are the marketing guys trying to distance the new product from the old? It looked to me like the "import " brands must have hired all the guys who used to design for North America. I think Ford could be in trouble cause only so many people are going to buy pony cars unless they start givin' the Freestars and others away.

The Zephyr is not going to sell well because it does not stand out from the crowd.
Doesn't matter that we like the Lincoln name, many car models and some manufacturers are going to fall by the wayside over the next few years. The market is flooded with choices and that's not good for Ford Motor Co.

That's pretty much the problem. When the final prototype of the Zephyr was made, I wonder if Ford R&D thought the same thing.
If it had the 230hp V6 of the Lincoln LS along with its sporty Mazda 6 underpinnings, it might be a contender...but even then it would be a stretch.
I mean, even Acura and Lexus make really bold looking cars these days, not to mention they have stronger V6s. I donno who is gonna buy this car.
But when they do, I sincerely hope they post here. smile.gif

I bet the people who buy this car are the people who bought the V6 Continentals. Of course, these don't look as good and the market does have better choices now. Guess we'll have to wait and see. What a flop from concept to production though...yeesh. I'd hate to have worked on that project. I couldn't avoid finger pointing.

Nah, the people who bought the progressive V6 Continental have a lot more choices than back in 1988, most notably Toyota (Avalon), Lexus, Acura, Infiniti, and (dare I say it?) a throughly modern Cadillac.

Hey! I love my '93 Conti! Four wheel air-adjustable independent suspension with discs all around, power rack and pinion steering, creature comforts, etc. for a lot less money (new) than comparable European models. So, what if its got a 3.8 V-6? I can get service at ANY Ford dealer, or service it myself unless its something major.
Do THAT with a Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Infiniti, Acura, Jaguar, or Cadillac, for that matter/
