My hydraulic brake hose from the accumulator to the bottom of the reservior went this week, spewing out brake fluid over the maifold and white smoke immediately followed from the hood and out the back. I stopped immediately and had the car towed to the nearest Lincoln dealer. Unfortunately, the hose is no longer available. Anybody have a lead on a replacemant part?

Just realized that I forgot to mention that I have a 1985 Valentino Conti. I'm the one with the brake hose problem.

Some parts houses make up hydraulic lines. Get on the phone and call around. You might be surprised. You will need the old line and fittings for reference.
Here is an interesting site that might also be able to help.

Good luck and let us know. :)

The other option is to bend a new line out of replacement tubing. I had to do this when my driver's brake line went on my Continental. Having never done it before, it went fairly well and isn't that hard. You just need a good double flaring tool which your local auto parts store won't have, a tubing cutter, and a bender.

Nick has a good point. A ggod tubing flare tool shold set you back about $75.00. The skill to use it takes a liitle time and know how. The link I posted previously in this thread sells tools and at the end of the tool page has some good tips on making good flares. You could also have most shops flare it up using the original as a guide.

Do you need the rubber hose from the accumulator to the bottom of the reservior???
I think that is the one you want, I'm surprised the dealer can't get it for you. I got one just a few years ago......:(

Yes, the rubber hose with fittings. I'm driving 1 1/2 hours tomorrow morning to the Lincoln dealer to get the part from my car and bring it home to my parts man. We'll see if he can reproduce it. I called the parts house referenced earlier in the thread as well. They don't do rubber hydraulic hoses, but offered to try a steel one.

Ask the Lincoln dealer to do a nationwide Lincoln dealer parts computer inventory search, or if they don't have that capability, to tell you which Lincoln or Ford dealer in your area can do the nationwide search.
Just because the part is no longer available through Lincoln dealers does not necessarily mean one of the couple of dozen dealers in obsolete parts may not have it. Get the part number from the Lincoln dealer, and then, for starters, try http://www.greensalescompany.com/Ford%20parts%20inventory.asp.
Post the part number here or PM it to me and I'll have a friend ask around.

Just got back from the Lincoln dealer in Reading PA- I live in South Philly. They did a nationwide search again in front of me- nothing. They tried greensales- so did I- nothing. Part number is E5LY-2C234-A. They hadn't pulled it and I couldn't wait, so they are going to try having it made up in Reading somewhere after they disassemble everything and pull it. They did print me a schematic of the part and it's connection. I scanned it and will try to attach in next message. Can't upload- it exceeds limit.

Part number is E5LY-2C234-A.
High pressure hose kit, discontinued 10/27/2003. Not available even from obsolete parts dealers. Sorry.

The wonderful thing about the aftermarket is they are only limited to the imagination.
If you post what the ends look like and the length of the hose, if you have the ability to go longer or shorter you can have many options.
Only a few hoses in the world are a "one-off" on ends, I just don't know the threads on the ends or I would get you a part number that you can take to a local parts store and get something to work.
I will try the part number you posted to get an answer. Input from you as to if it can be longer or shorter and by how much will be a help.

Just typing out loud. A term used by the Brits for the hollow bolt in your illustration. It was a very common item on my 74 Commando.

I've heard the term "banjo bolt" before too. I use it actually, but never "banjo union bolt" though I suppose its probably the more correct term. Many front brake calipers use that setup, has the copper washer on either side of the block on the end of the hose, etc etc.
