I have not personally experienced the excitement of buying a brand new Lincoln, because I have never bought a new car. Nevertheless, I highly appreciate the enthusiasm expressed here about their new Lincoln, and I equally appreciate their enthusiasm.

I have not personally experienced the excitement of buying a brand new Lincoln, because I have never bought a new car.

All the used cars I've bought bring more satisfaction to me for some twisted reason. Something about the thrill of the hunt and finding just what you wanted, and all the lack of spare time you have fixing it. ;)

Nevertheless, I highly appreciate the enthusiasm expressed here about their new Lincoln, and I equally appreciate their enthusiasm.

Well said. I made this forum in Jan 2005 to enlighten people of Lincoln's upcoming product. If nothing else, it'll give any Lincoln employees who "lurk" some free market research. :) I was hoping to find regulars to populate this forum and maybe, just maybe they'll stick around and diversify our little family forum. It worked with the late-model Continental forum and it will work here. :)

I'm sticking around, especially if the discusion remains lively!! The only other site that I've found that was worth visiting was Lincolns of Distintion. This one is the one I enjoy the most. All of these sites have thier strong points. Before I bought my Lincoln, I frequented the (gulp) Satern Fans site. It is a really good site for a lesser vehicle. The best part about it is the rumor and upcoming models information. I don't know how they got this out of the manufacturer, but it was interesting........ Lincoln is no longer a 1 or 2 model line. It would be neat to get some insite into the future.....

This is the best Lincoln site I've found!!! Thanks!

I never really made it a big deal, but I was hoping that would work. :o

Rest assured, with the hot-rodder/average Joe/old people clans at LoL, there will always be lively discussions. Its just nice to see Zephyr folk joining the fun. Thank you for being the first. :)

That's basically what the Zephyr forum was 14 months ago. Maybe in a few months we'll have a forum for the Volvo-Lincs and make that the place for rumors, rants, and news.:gossip:

"In response to the Depression, Edsel Ford followed the classic "K" line of Lincolns with the less-expensive Zephyr, named after the wildly popular streamlined train run by the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad.

Introduced in 1936, the Lincoln Zephyr was a study in contrasts. Begun as a wildly experimental concept by Dutch-born John Tjaarda that anticipated the rear-engined Tatra 77, it wedded at fairly sophisticated 267 cubic inch (4.4-liter) V-12 engine to a rather mundane chassis, complete with transverse leaf spring suspension and beam axles front and rear. But, largely due to Edsel Ford's influence, the Zephyr was a good-looking vehicle that offered the right amount of luxury at a price that was less than half what Lincoln charged for its essentially dead-in-the-water model K.

The Zephyr was successfully launched, and it was even able to win the grudging acceptance of the European press and automotive establishment, at least for its leading edge bodywork. Edsel Ford made the segue to what was to become the Continental after an off-hand conversion with the chief stylist E.T. "Bob" Gregorie. Speaking of potential future projects, Gregorie mentioned the Zephyr V-12 and the availability of space in the old model K facility. With Edsel's encouragement, Gregorie is said to have come up with the lines of the Continental convertible in about a hour by putting a piece of tracing paper of a blueprint of the Zephyr and then sketching in changes."

Is Lincoln history repeating itself? Will the Zephyr evolve into a Continental convertible..... -g-

If they do not retain the full name "Continental" for whatever it is will be the new "Continental" then we should all buy one share of Ford stock, symbol F, AND SUE FORD for a negligent waste of a corporate asset.:p

Come on now, Vitas! Drink some of the Padilla Kool-Aid and hop on the alpha bandwagon.

"Yes, we have iconic nameplates with strong name recognition in the Lincoln lineup. With the new alpha nomenclature, we have an opportunity to embrace Lincoln's rich heritage in a more contemporary, customer-relevant way through our MK badging, which is a modern interpretation of the historic Lincoln Mark name. The fantastic Lincoln product lineup, along with the new badging strategy, will make this great brand relevant to a new generation of customers."

-Jim Padilla,President and Chief Operating Officer, Ford Motor Company.

I wonder how many 2007 MKZ owners will buy 2006 Zephyr letters for their doors and trunk? ;)

If "alpha" increases sales next year then maybe the idea worked.

If it decreases sales, or has no effect on sales, then I see a CONTINENTAL in our future.

I'll take the Lincoln Continental Town Car any day over the MKCSZLMSP or whatever alphabet soup they are calling it now.

Stick to the core. And keep the hood ornament.....

Stick to the core. And keep the hood ornament.....

You're gonna have to put a 2003-present Town Car hood ornament on your car. Maybe make a tech article out of it so we can expand our database to the new Lincolns. :)
