View Full Version : care package????

I'm new to the board, just bought a new 05 Navigator 4X4 with HID, Air/heated seats, tow package. I got a great deal that I couldn’t pass up, $16K off MSRP. Let me just say, WOW! Love the way the Lincoln rides, the interior of the vehicle is so rich. And talk about steering on a dime, the steering is excellent?

I have a question about the care package that you get with the Navigator. What does it include? The idiots at the dealership couldn't find anything, they misplaced the second key, and the owner’s manual, which they said they'll order. All I got was 2 key fobs, 1 key, a leather booklet thing with some pamphlets, and 4 floor mats. Shouldn’t I get a valet key also, maybe even a couple Lincoln key chains? How about the floor mats, shouldn’t I get one for the third row? And the one they gave me for the driver’s side is so small, shouldn’t it be bigger and stretch up higher underneath the pedals? The floor mats for the second row are 2 small ones on the ends, is that right…shouldn’t it be a full length floor mat especially since I have the bench 40/20/40 seat in the middle?

I’ve bought luxury cars before and the care packages have been a wonderful surprise. If the only things you get with a Lincoln is a set of keys and a manual that would be the worst care package ever.

Hello fellow '05 Navi owner! :)

There is no "care" package really, here's what I got:

2 keys
2 transmittors
faux-leather bound owner's manual, some smaller pamphlets and a CD-ROM
Keychains from the dealer, not Lincoln
NO Valet Key
NO 3rd row floormatInteresting thoughts on the floormats. Yes the fronts are too small, but it still does the job. I never noticed the lack of a long 2nd row mat for the 3-passenger seats. Odds are Lincoln wouldn't go to the trouble of a mat like that since most Navis have buckets back there.

thanks for the response.
Not good customer relations, the domestic auto manufactures really need to take a good look at what the Japanese are doing with their customers. Its no wonder Detroit is struggling these days.

I was given a rather large care package with my Infiniti G35. Let me tell you what they gave me, you'll be shocked.
2 keys
1 valet key
1 credit card key for the wallet
2 Infiniti key chains
1 Infiniti pen to go with the planner
1 leather planner to hold all the business cards from the dealership and the owner manual and other manuals
1 large leather pouch to carry it all.

Large expensive SUV's are the most profitable vehicles Ford sells, they should have given more then just keys and a manual.

If you are not happy with what they gave you why don’t you go and return you Navigator and get an Infinity and stop complaining? You got 16 grand off the MSRP, and you also want a pen with that?

Hi Skynite

You got 16,000 of the price of the car, why are you worried about 20 bucks worth of useless sh*t you can live without?

Regards

2005 model Infinitis won't be sitting on the lot like Navis do. Still that's no excuse for your dealer's inability to find all the goodies. I'm sure there was a nice bonus on that car to get it off the lot, hopefully your salesperson was at least nice about the problem.

Dereck, Mega: quit scaring off new members. That's MY job and I only do it to the Mazda-based Lincolns to get their blood pressure up and post more. :p:grouphug:

Skynite - welcome aboard, and the valet key should be available upon request at least that's how it worked with the last Marks.

Thanks… Great to be on board with such an excellent community. I know, I should have posted some pics, but its raining like crazy in Sacramento and I haven't had time to clean the rig. Hopefully next weekend I’ll have some pics posted. And I wasn’t complaining, and no I will not return the Navi… rides to nice to take it back.

Let me ask you guys… what was your first upgrade, if any? I’m definitely thinking about some rims…. Any suggestions on size or brand? Actually the first thing I really want to do is remove the middle seat from the second row and install the center console. I don’t like the bench look in the second row.

Mods? The one in my family is a monotone edition with the really tough looking chrome rims, they are fine. Not to mention this rig is used for towing and carrying a lot of junk. All the windows have been tinted (yes even the ones already tinted) and it has a wicked system with JL Audio tweeters in the doors, JL speakers replacing door and sub enclosures, plus one more JL sub in the 2nd row console and a Pioneer DVD-NAV head unit.

Here's what I've personally done to it, all pretty small, but make a nice difference.
debadged the doors, tailgate
removed roof rack (fuel economy and style)
replaced boring cigarette lighters with 90s-era metal Lincoln lighters with the Lincoln star in themFuture upgrade will be to remove that horrible air muffler which reduces the engine's 4" tube to a 2" horn in the fender. The muffler will be replaced with PVC piping at some point in the future. A little cutting into the fender will be necessary, but totally worth it. This rig already moves quick off the line with that 6-speed auto, but with 2" more intake tube and no intake muffler, it will literally fly off the line.

Welcome aboard. :)

Sorry I'm late but welcome aboard. I'm sure you will find this a wonderful site and a great community environment. Congrats on the Navi. My girlfriend wants one so bad it is killing her. Just can't quite afford the payments. I drove an 02 Navi a few years back and it rode very well. I was quite impressed. Definately get some pics up here once she is shining in all her glory. That price is exactly why Ford is going the way they are now. $16k off the price of a Navigator!!! That is rediculous. I guess they are going for the "price it high and work your way down to them" approach to sales now while Caddy, Lexus, Infinity are all still commanding sticker and above for theirs. Poor, poor Ford.

Its not just american.... You can get a big discount for an Armada easily. Almost all the big SUV are not selling, blame it on gas prices. Everywhere you look in the paper everyone is giving $10K discount of MSRP. I bought a 2005 4X4 Navigator, MSRP was $55K... I got it for $39K... heres the funny part, Kelly blue book values my car with only 200 miles at around $39K but an equally equiped Qx56 is valued at $46K. That is a big difference. I wonder why the Navigator has such poor resale value.

Consumer reports rates the reliability of both the Navigator and QX56 as poor. Must be that buyers think the QX is more stylish with the Navigator looking far too much like an Expedition. Long term, the QX will probably be more reliable than the Navi.

Damn, both of those vehicles eat fuel like crazy. I suspect fillups will run you around $100 to $150 in the very near future. But who cares, you spent $40K for the vehicle!

Not possible (no room) on these newer models, and I've seen older ones with chrome duals...they look kinda wierd. I've seen 90s model Explorers with duals, they looked pretty good, but I still wouldn't bother doing it.

Wouldn't fit in the parking garage with a rack on it! But I like it, looks more like a station wagon that got whatever candy Barry Bonds is on these days.

Even if that's true, I wouldn't touch the QX56. Last time I saw a brand-new one, the power seat controls were hanging by a wire out of the seat. One of the console latches was broken, and the plastic was way too cheap. Not what I'd expect of a $50k+ vehicle. Given the choice, I'd get the Navi. The styling is better proportioned, and doesn't look cartoonishly stupid like the dreck that Nissan/Infiniti is trying to sell.

Beat me to it. Nissan/Infiniti interiors aren't the quality of Lexus, and from the stitched armrests to the fancy gauges, the Navi blows away the QX. The QX is almost Chevy Tahoe cheap inside, its hardly the stuff you'd expect from Japanese cars.

Even the Infiniti G35 has a dumpy interior. We knock the Zephyr but its interior isn't any worse than the G's.

Around here imports get hyped to be so much more than they actually are. YOu can thank the 16-22 age group in these parts for that. There are numerous examples but here is one: the G35.....people are crazy about the damn thing. If you own one you are automatically 4x cooler and 3x better looking. There were several in my old apt. complex that seriously only had tinted windows and you would think that it was a showcar. Those owners were cocky as hell cause everyone basically sucked their dick. My roommate had a 93 Stang 5.0 with GT40 motor and supercharged/sprayed and the girls hated it. I knew a couple of girls who thought a lowered Honda Accord coupe was faster than his car because it was lowered and shinier and cooler . People are ignorant.

Yeah, one guy at work got a new one. Base model with an automatic. Car rode like crap, horrible back seat, had no power until 4500 rpm, and got the worst fuel economy I've ever seen in a v6 car. Handling was good, but that car is mostly about looks and ego, nothing else.

wow your right. I looked on www.fueleconomy.gov and a 06 G35 auto gets the same mileage as my Conti: 18/25

Yeah when I told that guy (and his other Import minded friends) that I get 27mpg at 80mph with the A/C on in my Mark VIII, they were a little upset. No way a high strung V6 could do that. Well, probably not.

I guess those guys are figuring that the Nissan Skyline heritage automatically makes the car way more cooler than anything else, even though the Skyline sedan is no way near as good as the famous coupe. I don't like the car at all. The front looks idiotic with those vertcal headlights and horizontal bar grille. Last Infiniti I liked was the last Q45 with the waterfall vertical grille and bustle back (I know I've seen that somewhere before. I sense a trend in my luxury cars here. . . :D).
