so would these 1.6 pedestals do the job well, pedestal 5/16" right?
i see that roller rockers can get pretty expensive buy i am trying to keep costs down, or do you know of a similar price for more known brand?

also would using these roller rockers add to the rated 225hp/300ft-lbs? and if so how much approx?
also with less friction, anyone know if a mile or 2 fuel economy is gained?
what about 1.7ratio ones? or are those unnecessary
and finally will i need valve covers from HO mustang 87-93 or whatever for these roller rockers or will my 86 conti's valve covers have enough clearance?

1.6 roller rockers will give you only marginal gains on a stock motor, essentially just slightly reducing valve train friction. If you're gonna spring for them, 1.7 rockers will get you a bit more effective cam lift and duration. Probably not huge amounts of power but I noticed it widened out my power band a little. I bought used low mileage 1.7 roller rockers for a Mustang Cobra for like $125. They work fine, and are made by Crane. They also fit perfectly under stock stamped steelie valve covers if you're going for the stealth look. Keep in mind any rockers other than the FMS/Crane ones for a Cobra may not fit the stocker steelie covers. The HO covers don't have any extra room under them, so if you want guaranteed clearance you'll need taller covers and an intake spacer.
And yes, 5/16" pedalstal mounts are what you need.

well if 1.7 roller rockers will fit with my valve covers on the E7 heads when i get them then i will do that.
so these would be a prime candidate then:

also how much would you guess i would gain from the stock 225hp i should get with the HO conversion if i added these 1.7 roller rockers, flowtech or bbk headers and catback off of mark vii with 2 flowmaster deltaflow 50series?

Same rockers I have. They'll work fine with an HO engine with the valve relieved pistons, but no promises with the dished lopo pistons. Power gains won't be huge, maybe 10 hp, but I've no dyno info to check that against so who knows. With a stock HO motor, good exhaust and those rockers you're probably in the 250-260 range maybe. The dished pistons will lower the compression a bit though, so you won't have 225 to start with. Its actually said that 225 rating was a bit generous in the first place and 215 is probably more like it.
Also, as a suggestion, you might want to post over in the Modified Mark VII section for engine stuff, since its the same motor you're putting together and some of those guys have some pretty extensive experience when it comes to this stuff.

I don't think they will work on the stock 1986 Conti shortblock. Stick with 1.6s.
