Ford just announced that the new 3.5L "Cyclone" V6 in the new MKZ is gonna put out 263 hp on 87-octane gas.
Most riceburners need Premium to get that much horsepower. Good job, Ford. You'll win us over on the MKZ yet. ;)

MPG's?
Hey thats better than that much touted about 265HP Maxima Engine except on 87 gas! Imagine once someone makes an aftermarket chip for premium fuel...but how does it do it now on 10.3:1??? Yay Ford-lets hope its as durable as the 4.6 and others.

High Compression, high redline, low octane, 1.23:1 power to cubic inches; very cool. It's FWD, though, isn't it?

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, and no...its AWD, baby. ;)
Frankly, they should have waited one year and not made the 2006 model. That would have shut up all the haters.

Oh wow! That is an impressive resume:eek: But I imagine that the AWD will have most of it's power delivered at the front wheels, and we will get all the horrible understeer that goes with it...BLEH! Though I could be wrong. RWD is in demand, hopefully most of the power goes to the rear wheels, which would be almost as good:)

It'll probably be more front biased, most FWD to AWD converted cars are this way. Only AWD cars like the BMW 3-series and Infiniti G35x have more RWD bias because of their RWD blueprint.
But it will still be a healthy improvement over the Zephyr. I mean, if they keep the MSRP the same (they better) it will be a serious contender.

If they keep the price the same, it would make Zephyr owners pretty pissed I'm sure but it would certainly be worth the money IMO then.;)

Hi Pro
Yep but you are forgetting most rice burners are half that engines size and still make the same power :p

That's a valid point; a lot of Jap engines are sub 2.0L. :o

No way in hell they make it on 87 octane. Nor will they crank numbers like that out at those relatively "low" rpms. Don't rely on peak hp numbers, remember its the area under the curve. No ricer math allowed here, toots. :p

We'll have to see how the car performs, that's what really matters.

Suspension tuning aside, it'll be a winner. Especially if they keep it at $29,995 or whatever the MSRP of the Zephyr currently is.
