just curious what top speed of 86 conti is?
i know it can do better than speedometers max digital 85mph
but what speed does rev limiter or whatever limiter it have kick in?
Also is there anyway to allow speedometer to mod it to go higher than 85mph?

I have seen withthe Marks and Cougars that you can make the digi dash go past 85 to like 140, its on a link in one of the posts, seemes simple, all you had to do was run a jumper wire between a few resistors. I have tacken my 84 agianst a 150 5.4, and she siad we were pegged out on her truck so iam thinking i was going atleast 120, maybe 130. I try to be nice with the car though, piant is next.

From what we have seen in Mark VIIs, there is no speed limiter of any kind. That said with 150hp and a narrow powerband, you'll be lucky to break 110mph.

I hit 115 and still pulling in my 89 Voyager. 3 speed, non-overdrive and 142HP. You should be able to do something similair. Your risking death with non speed rated tires and stock handlaing capability. I frequently get my TC up to 100 on a straitaway because 70mph to 100mph is easy.;)

The lopo 5.0 will run out of motor before it gets too wound out. The stock heads just don't breathe. I'll say 100-120 as a practical limit but not sure honestly. There isn't a governor beyond the power band of the motor.

Veeery carefully.
If the '86 is held together with screws, like my '83, you'll fare well enough. If you see no screws and the fit is very tight, I'd say you're in for plastic trim tabs. These like to break if you look at them wrong. However, a screwed-together dash is easy to disassemble and you won't break everything. Just get yourself a big coffee can for the screws, there's a lot of them.
