Okay so over at autopartswarehouse.com i can get two flowmaster deltaflow 50s for $167.72 with free shipping. I got ones for 86 mustang which are 2.5" offset inlet and outlet are these the mufflers i would want as in i would want the offset inlet and outlet?
$209 for new bbk equal-length headers off ebay, free shipping
then $360 for bassani x-pipe /w cats new off ebay, free shipping
so total for parts would be $736.72 going this way.
Anybody know where i can get any of these parts same performance cheaper price and new?
Also if I brought this stuff to muffler place how much about would it be to get custom extension pipes and tail pipes and etc done?
Still working on possible used stuff.

Look through my thread. Dynomax super turbos were recommended...on the box in Advance Auto they claim to flow better than flowmasters and have a mild rumble. I dunno but they are only $39ea. That is only a minor savings compared to the pipes you have to buy so on second thought I would stick to the fully welded stainless steel mufflers.

well i see the super turbo does outflow the deltaflow 50series on the Dynamax. As far as sound differences how are each compared to each other under acceleration?
My friend has 60series on a chevy lumina which rates interior sound levels higher then delta 50series and it not that drony.
But getting super turbos is $20 cheaper a muffler
I like that deep flowmaster growl, super turbo doesnt seem as deep
opinions?

I don't own this era of Conti but from what I've read here with the lopo 5.0, exhaust isnt going to sound that great no matter what type of muffler is used. Do a search for exhaust in the Conti section/Conti archives.

With respect, guys, my '83 with the stock muffler system sounds pretty good as is. When I redo the exhaust, there will be a notable difference, and I expect it will sound excellent.
EDIT: A thought; maybe watch out how much freeflow you're giving your Conti. I think V8s are pretty safe for this, but I put a Magnaflow muffler with 2" exhaust on my Saturn once and almost burned the valves. Maybe it's just some stock engines and smaller engines that are at risk for the valvetrain, but it's something that came to mind. It sounds like you're having fun with this project. I'd love to see the car you're working on.

well it was passed from my granparents to my mom and then to me, only 95k miles on it too!
Came from texas where my granparents lived in 86 or late 85.
my car was involved in the last hurricane, we had it up jackstands on all corners as high as possible, neighbors laughed but when we came back water had just gotten to bottom of rims, so everything was fine after thourough cleaning and gettin on the brakes a few times. Neighboors werent laughing either obviously after...
I got $1k for storm not sure if title was stamped i think my dad got that sum instead of higher in order to keep title clean.
But, now $400 worth of sensors and plugs, wires, cap&rotor are being changed.
Hopefully with that other $600 i can get the dual exhaust 2.5" /w catted x-pipe and probably 2 super turbo dynomax mufflers to save a little. Maybe get E7 heads and put on crane cams 1.7 roller rockers with the leftover money.
Then through job i would like to also get the traction-lok rear, front and rear sway bars to help tame the beast
and maybe cold air intake kit as well, i already have air silencer out.
(86 mustang gt cold air intake kit should work perfectly correct? anybody done it and know approx HP gains from it?)
its oxford white, this is best pic i could do being away at college, which is why i am doing all of this research now

As you can see i still have to cut out the U in rear bumper skirt for the right side dual exhaust too
I like premium wheels(spokey) much more than standard ones, also its been converted to springs in front and rear and the aluminum spacers for rear will be machined donw some since i find it having the rear up too high.
also i have a W-5000 antenna on it now, if anyone here does CB too. Put a 140amp mustang gt alternator on it to power the Galaxy949 and Palomar450HD when i need to extra power, and also Pioneer P6400 CD reciever

From the pic, it looks like you have the disc wheels. My finned/turbine wheels are missing the lug covers and don't suit what I'm aiming for on my car. If you are thinking about new wheels, how much would you ask for the discs? Also, are they 15s or 16s?

15s, actually being on the topic of wheels the centercaps are as shiny chrome as the day they left the floor, but the wheels themselves are more of a dull aluminum, anybody know of way to get these wheels with spokes to shine or did they never? cause they would be awesome if the wheels and all those spokes shined like the centercaps?
also any suggestions on aftermarket wheels? i assume alot go to maybe Cobra wheels? anybody have pics of cobra rims on a continental or mark vii?

there is a guy on this forum with 94-95 Mustang GT rims, tinted windows, and dual exhaust. That is the best looking Conti of that generation I have ever said. Let him be your mentor. :D

The super turbos would be a better value wont but last as long as your new pipes. In your case I would stick with the fully welded stainless steel flowmasters...

Sounds good! I like the blinker mod too! Do you have the lo-po 5.0? They are 155 hp, carbs/TBI and I thought only came in early to mid 80's (up to 86 when 5.0 EFI took over for all V8 duties).

The 1986-up systems sound a little better because they aren't such low-rpm wussies like the CFI models. My '83 Conti with a rusted out muffler sounds like a pickup, mostly because it has a low compression, lame cam, pickup motor. :)
Man, I really need to add sequential lights to my Cougar now. Thanks a lot! :)

Yep 5.0 SO with some boltons. FYI from 1986 and up the 5.0 SO and 5.0 HO both had SEFI and roller cams so to the casual observer they both look the same.

Time to order the kit from Thunderchicken on the other board ;)

Strat's Continental will probaby be a lot like yours in the end. That's a good thing.

I keep on telling myself no because I don't need another project! But I want it! :faint:

yea i got sefi and roller cam, so thunderjet302 thats 2.25" dual exhaust you got? what kind of mufflers are they flowmasters or super turbos? and i assume you used mustang parts since you stuck with 2.25" dual instead of 2.5"?
Also what other mods have you done to your engine?

Yep 2.25 dual exhaust. You don't need 2.5" exhaust untill you're pushing over 275hp or so. That big of an exhaust on a 5.0 SO wil kill your bottom end torque. My 2.25 dual exhaust has no stock Mustang parts except for the headers. It's a custom bent 2.25 dual system with no crossover (ie H or X pipe). The muffler's I'm using are Flowtech Afterburner mufflers (they're made by Holley). The car has a nice quiet motor boat rumble at idle that increases in "roar" as you step on the gas. In adition to the stock Mustang shorties and 2.25" dual exhaust I have a HO upper intake manifold, 60mm throttle body and EGR plate, a Ford Racing 1/2" upper intake spacer, and a March Ram Air kit. I also have 3.73 gears and a Traction Lock in the rear as well;) .

It's not that hard to install or expensive. I think I paid $85 for the kit and it took about 2 hours to install start to finish:)

Definitely after the 6-speed is done. Whenever I get to that. :)

It sounds kind of like when I had my custom exhaust on my CFI Continental, but a little less truck like. I'm for having some sort of crossover though for exhaust scavenging and for more V8 sounds.
