just curious if anyone here has any CBs in their cars?

I have a Wilson 5k, Galaxy949, and a Palomar450HD.
Fun little hobby, but police where i live seem to like to tail me, guess that lincoln is suspicious!
Especially after i get this dual exhaust on it!

haha yea, although that would be pretty sweet!
Considering last time i was doin some talkin on cb was late at nite at end of one of our cities roads that happens to be at waters edge.
Sure enough cop was sitting down there already, I didnt do anything wrong, just parked and then after about a minute he shines spotlight on me and keeps it on for about 3min! finally he turns it off but never followed me out or anything, i found that to be actually pretty rude those lights are very bright and it doesnt take 3min to check for illegal activity especially when i park knowing he is also sitting there.
I would like to be able to shine right back at him! but that would be illegal. I probably will get another antenna and get a scanner in there too

My antenna here at the house died. its only been up for about 10 years now, and been in a tree three times. I don't understand what the problem is. That, and my stupid Tram popped an oscillator crystal and doesn't want to function. I haven't gotten around to digging into it to fix it yet.

In the Townie I run a Corbra 148 fGTL and a Wilson 1000. I have a 2 pill box my friend built that I've been meaning to hook up, but haven't gotten around to it. I meant to hook it up in my truck for 4 years, and never did. It was inline, and I never ran power cables to it. The antenna on the car is kinda sad tho. It needs new cable and the stuff on the bottom of the magnet is all messed up. I have a non-scratch pad on it, but its really just overdue for replacement. But, knowing me, I'll re-cable it and keep it around a while longer.

I had one in the Daytona I used to have but the damned antenna kept blowing off at 120mph. Hit 120, pull over, throw antenna in the rear, merge into 75+mph traffic and get on up to 130.:p I ended up getting moisture trapped under the magnet and it caused the clearcoat to start bubbling up but that was right before it hit the scrap heap. I really want one for the towncar but just haven't gotten the money up to do it. I want a nice chrome faced Cobra unit with the light wood mic and one of the big mama antenna's. Maybe my girlfriend will get it for my birthday. Only another 6 months.

eh the only things they are good for are listening to crude trucker jokes and getting the accident report/ police hidouts. I had one, had a scanner too but so many codes for the different towns and most are going digital. Passengers do love screwin around with truckers when just road tripping.

they are quite fun and getting skip is awesome too, gotta have some juice though...I've skipped to Wisconsin I think and this is the end of the 11yr sun cycle. Basically the worst time for CB conditions being the end of cycle.
Cason1 if you do get one and are worried about blowing off, I got the trunklip mount and then you needn't worry!
Wilson-1000 is good deal, but with my juice W-1000 can handle but wouldve had to upgrade the coax so i went with the W-5000 that already has better coax.
Also Cobra 29 or 25 are both good. I recommend Cobra148 or Galaxy949 myself I like Sideband
There is new Cobra 200 also that has its own internal amp and does pretty good especially not having to worry about more coax to and from an amp

I had my amp fit right in glovebox was so nice and concealed. Both my front doors have nice pockets under armrests for all necessary stuff anyways.
Part of why i went ahead and added 140amp alternator instead of stock alternator thats for mustang gt.

I'm not so worried about it blowing off the Towncar as it tops at 107 but that was the biggest downfall to the one I had on the Daytona. The car spent a good bit of time above 120mph and that magnet just couldn't hold it on at those speeds. I think I will get a trunklip mount though just in case.

the only thing is obviously TCs have the metal trunks as does mine, but for newer fiberglass trunk really complicates things if trunk mount is way you wanna go. Not too bad though basically have to secure antenna still to trunk but with ground wire going to chassis. But even with trunklip mount if you really want good signal and little reflect gotta make sure each set screw is actually in bare metal. I did that to mine but obviously dielectric grease is your friend in keeping that bare metal just that and not rusting as quickly!
Doing that really helps get SWRs down which is needed if any juice is running through
