would this kit fit my 86 conti, it looks exactly same layout as my conti is?

Yeah the 86-88 kit should work fine. Don't expect any more power, though, its just for looks. You have to remove the air silencer (TECH section) anyway to intall the CAI kit, and that's the main restriction.

Even the stock intake tube is good for 275hp, i.e. don't waste your money.

gotcha well at least i do have k&n in the airbox and did remove air silencer too.
What about sound would the sound be any nicer soudning under acceleration with that concial filter and being in fenderwell?

But of course for how much they run i wouldnt buy unless was getting it for really cheap

No they don't sound any better...in my experience of CAI versus silencer-less stock airboxes on Mark VIIs.
