Doesn't matter what you think of the guy, Hip-Hop influences the auto world more than any other lifestyle/culture, and his sultry song "Drive Slow" would be good PR for the much improved Lincoln Sedan:

Hiphop has doen zilch for the styling of the above mentioned vehicles, unless you like driving carved bricks. Look what happened to Rolls and that trash heap they're calling a car now. The marque died with the Seraph. At least Bentley hasn't changed for the worse. Don't get me started on Chrysler.

I blame the SUV's disturbing popularity for making us all drive brick shaped vehicles. And I'm the opposite, I think Rolls is doing ok (not great) with BMWs help and Bentley's gigantic VW bug styling is the work of the devil.
Considering how the sucky Jeep Commander wound up on a sucky Missy Elliot video months before the showroom, I bet the first good look we'll get of the MKZ shall be on this video. At least its a better song this time around, not campy and actually talks about driving a cool car to impress people. Gotta love that.

I was referring to the Arnage, the traditional sedan. Every company has lesser, dynamic cars to offer and traditional cars to maintain their heritage. R-R threw all that out the window when they brought out the Phantom. I don't give a damn about their sales, they ruined their car. Also, the Flying Spur is quite handsome, and doesn't look as radical as the GT or GTC.
I have a similar problem with the new Lincolns. The last decent-looking TC was in '97. Then the car was given that heavy handed restyle and the car hasn't looked the same since. Packard did the same thing in '48 and look where it got them.
BMW F'ed up when Bangle got his hands on their cars, to say nothing of these stupid multi-function computers that are taking the driving further away from the driver. No one will be able to sell me one of those pieces of shit.
At the last car show here, there were only 2 cars I liked: the Scion tC and the Hyundai Azera, both of which looked as fast as they drove. Everything else has gone to hell.

Ok, I calmed down. Took the Saturn to get the oil done today, and spent 45 minutes staring at Ions (which I loathe).
If the MK Z had a smaller grille and the interior had less rectangles and fake chrome, I might like it. But the styling is way too retro, and there's not enough wood grain. That silver plastic looks like the 300C!
If they shrank that grille and made it RWD instead of FWD, they might have the next Conti on their hands. Oh; more wood, less chrome, longer nose.

Yep! That is advertising power that cannot be bought, and the car will take off like a fanned fire whether it's got a full name or a acronym on the doors. I have to admit I dislike Hip Hop, it's generally extremely negative and/or violent, but these guys DO set the trends in fashion and design elements

I wish to state categorically that I do not care who drives the car. I just do not like the HipHop culture, which has many diverse artists involved with it. It's the image I can't stand. Speak English please!
However, I will say I voted "yes"in the poll, for Lincoln's sake. I hate to see the marque suffer.

Well it shouldn't be, but look at the marketing dollars and look at the trend-setters. Trust me, I am not interested in making this into a hot-button topic, as a victim of racist remarks myself it can easily become a serious not-fun topic. But the fact is Hip-hop is hot, its predominately a black thang, and automakers swarm to it for marketing/product promotion...and it sells American cars better than anything else out there. Ever seen a generic Toyota Sequoia next to a '64 Impala in a rap video? No, its either a pimped Navi or an Escalade. :)
But its more than Hip-hop: saw a Fallout Boy video this morning. Low and behold, the dance/fight scene with vampires (taken from you know who's breakout 1983 video) sports two new Lincolns casually placed on the set: black Navi and black Zephyr with TVs in the headrests.
Course only the black vampires came out of the Lincolns, but still, it shows how powerful this media is...and how badly Lincoln needs to get with it. ;)

Maybe as gas prices soar, fashion followers will go back to the Coupe. It can happen. Odds are the new Dodge Challenger, Chevy Camaro, Pontiac GTO, and whatever Lincoln/Mercury made of the Mustang's chassis will lead the way.

GTO is officially DEAD, Crapero wil likely NOT make production when GM files for bankruptcy later this year. Challenger may make it; Chrysler-Benz is on a roll. Ford Shelbys (the Shelby truck rolled up at Galpin Ford last week) and Mark VIIs rule.

Camaro is the worst kept secret in the business, its well on its way, ditto the GTO on the same chassis. They will be in showrooms in 2-ish years provided GM stays alive after bankruptcy...that's a big "if" I know.
Challenger has been greenlighted for limited production, since its gonna cost $30,000 or more for starters. Expensive platform = expensive muscle car.

Yeah theose Ions are terrible you could fit a fat slice of whole wheat though the gaps in the panels.
Oh yes exactly, ya see ppl don't realize why front wheel drive cars are popping up, its cause they are cheaper to make, a cheaper car, the people think front wheel drive is so great, its NOT. Although Benz is crapping on itself right now thy have always had the right Idea, don't make the car for everyone, but for some who wants and will care for it, my friend joan has had here BMW 540i for several years with no problems and is in impecable shape, compared to the other 1995 models out that year I'd go for one, Germans are smart they don't manufacture a bajillions cars they just keep up with demand, thats why ford and GM are serving themselves their own asses, its because they think their product is so friggin great when its not, for example the Zephr, just another thing that was rushed by ford, like the front of the 98 TC they could've just pulled out those plans for the MKS and actually impressed someone rather make some non quiet non fast FWD peice of crap, and yes I have driven one its not that exciting and the interior is as noisy on the road as an Accord. Message to ford abandon your "Affordable" crap and sell real cars.

This is just wrong on so many levels. Let's ignore the run on sentence, grammar, and spelling....... The Zephyr is the perfect Lincoln for a group of owners. I find it agile and well appointed, especially considering the price. I'm surprised you left out the F150/Mark LT. You don't have to like it, it wasn't built for you. Just remember that the Zephyr IS a Lincoln and we owners deserve the same courtesy as all the other Lincoln owners. The quality of your writing speaks volumes. Zephyr detractors, get over yourselves.... Those that don't change, parish.

I'm not trying to offend owners just telling the truth. Also I'm not attacking you car I'm going after ford and their poor decisions, if they wanted to bring back the Continental, Bring back the Continental, and don't complain about the grammar its bitchy.

There's folks out who love FWD cars, and there's folks like me who prefer RWD. If a FWD car is your thing, great! I just would like to see a resurgance of long hoods, big trunks, RWD, and two doors. And it'd better have unbreakable windows!

Hmmm, they make some stuff for home windows that is a shatter resistant film that applies similar to window tint but is clear. I have seen demo's where people try to break the glass with hammers and it will crack in the hit spot but won't come apart. I wonder about putting that on car windows. I don't know how much it cost either. That could prove cost inhibitive or maybe not. Also less chance of being ejected from the car in an accident.

I would love to see the Continental come back, if only for the name. It is the identifier that Lincoln's seeking in the MK... As a kid, my parent's cars (1960's) always said Lincoln Continental. I thought it was the last name!!
Truth is perception when it come to car opinions. This forum has done an extraordinary job of bashing the Zephyr. I get the point, some folks don't like it. Can we move on now?
Oh, and grammar is fair. After all, it was the truth.....

Getting testy, aren't we folks... Ha! You just gave the Zephyr an amazing compliment by labeling it as noisy as an Accord. That's because the Accord is rather quiet. It's quieter than my beloved Mark VIII, hey the new F150 is quieter than my Mark VIII for that matter. I think the Zephyr is a phenomenal automotive value, and if I should be so fortunate as to afford the purchase of any new car, much less a luxury brand, the Zephyr would be stretching my wallet still. I see no persons in the Zephyr forum knocking old Town Cars, Marks or Continentals. It sure would be nice to see the owners of the aforementioned vehicles not knocking the new cars that have just been purchased. Just an observation, folks.

AT THE VERY LEAST, we'll be getting the Zeph...er, Mark Z, with 4 wheel drive. THAT in itself is a huge step for Ford. In fact, once they start that, they should just produce 'em all that way (Fusion/Milan/MKZ). Extreme increase in COOL factor; besides, it has worked well for Subaru.
Back in the early '90s, I had a roommate whos brother was an engineer at Ford. I told him then "make a Taurus with all-wheel drive and you won't be able to keep up with demand." This was when the Audis were just taking a hit for "un-intended acceleration" (lawyer-speak for "wrong foot, knucklehead").
Still to this day, most people don't know HOW to drive a front-drive car. So, for the lefties and greenies I'd just like to say...
ALL WHEEL DRIVE SAVES LIVES.
Now start marchin' and buyin'...

quick, somebody please clarify what was "traditional" about a front-wheel-drive Continental, the Mark series becoming a sport coupe, and the Town Car being reduced to less-than-limolike in 1980. Even the Fox-body Continental, elegant as it is, was an extremely radical departure at that time. Heh! Just had to bring that up. Don't you know that Lincoln lost customers from one group yet gained customers from a new-found group with those vehicles? In other words, they kept up with the times.

By 'traditionalists', I refer to those of us who prefer any American car that has RWD, a V8, and is solid as a bank vault. And I do know that there are FWD Essex and Intech owners who probably consider themselves traditionalists. It depends on who you ask, and what time of day.
With my Porsche simile, their lot only drove R/R, air-cooled "real" Porsches. When the F/R, M/R, water-cooled, SUV, and lately sedan models came out, there was an outcry, and then they started driving them, and liking them.
I imagine there's some around here who may find the MKZ to their liking after all. Who knows? I just don't care much for it myself. Maybe if the grille was more in proportion to the style of the car.
Now, my granddad is a hardcore traditionalist who thinks the best Lincolns are the ones with the Ford 500 chassis and 460 V8. I like the Mark IV myself.
