Change calipers and bleed the system as normal. The ABS accumulator probably could use a flush at the same time (not mandatory) so I'd recommend this:

If you go to the trouble of flushing the system, you might as well do it completely. Brake fluid has a finite life span and changing it every few years is a good idea.
The rear caliper pistons screw back into the caliper housings. A tool is available to turn the piston at the auto parts store.

Replaced (front) calipers yesterday; so far so good but won't know for sure as this prob only comes up every hundred miles or so and goes away when car sits for an hour.

Hello. I am new here, and to Conti ownereship. 87 with 98K.
Had a squeeking rear brake, had almost 1/4 inch pad over the rivits. That adjustable piston, I could not get to turn, so I did not use the replacement pads I bought. I polished up the rotor and face of the existing pads and reassembled. Squeal was gone. When time comes to replace the pads, how do I get these pistons to adjust?

They are a real pain to turn, that's for sure. Next time try loosening up the bleeder screw, people say that works. Also make sure you really have leverage on that caliper, I set it on a wooden block and got lucky.

If the car has lived in the rust/snow belt, and you can't turn the piston, don't bother trying, they will rust/seize up and it's just way easier to get a rebuilt caliper.

This BRAKE article should also work for 83-87 Conti: http://lsc.netherealm.net/brakes.html
