Help, need to fix window up (pinion gear/bushing, I assume)
I'm having trouble understanding how to remove right rear door panel; popped most of the clips, removed window/light switch assy, unscrewed screws BUT can't figure out how to get past door handle/faux wood trim...? Help apprec thx

Check for screws mounted up under the trim on the upper side of the panels. The handle is mounted directly to the door, and you have to finagle the door panel around it; not easy.

Thanks for the help.
Needed to pry loose the two stainless/black covers at the extreme left and right of the door pull. Once done two 1/4" hex head machine screws release the door pull; then the faux wooden panel can be removed, then 2 more philips heads hold the panel in place behind the faux wood. Panel pulls up and away per usual.
Also ended up drilling 1/2" holes in 3 dimples of door to remove motor. Advance auto had replacement gear se for $25.

The dimples are rivets. I'd replace those with screws or nuts and bolts so you can get the motor out easier if you need to. I plan to do that with both my cars eventually.

If your fixing the motor, you probaly already have, rust will cause it to periodically not work so spray some wd-30 in it. That was my problem yesterday and it was a new motor to boot(i hate doing jobs twice)

It should be the same as this:

Often, it's not the gear motor itself, but the 3 nylon rollers that act as shear pins; these are nested inside the gear openings at the gear head and get worn & then crushed. The replacement 3 nylon rollers kit is available at auto parts stores in the Motormite HELP! Display for a few dollars. See: http://www.lincolnsonline.com/tech/00056.html
