well guys
i got her back on the road. it took alot of work but its done.
it would have been done sooner, but a little crazy at work and my freind had to go away for 2 weekends.
i do have pics of the car and the work being done. the head gasket busted at the right front corner and dumped it into the exhaust.
i have pics of the busted gasket too. had the valve stem seals done while the heads was out. the heads went to a machine shop.
a have alot more to write but cant think of it all now.
the only thing im running into now is it throws a check enigne light when you are driving about 20 minutes. the car was put on a computer to scan it all was well. but going to work today the check engine came on after like 20 minutes. also had to do the power steering lines as they busted a leak in the line from rubbing. now it seems like the steering is more stiff . oh well more to come about the work on this ESSEX machine. i guess im keeping her now. i cant part with it now its like a family member, after going through this all with her :) !! talk to you guys later

When the head gaskets go and anti-freeze gets in the exhaust it will contaminate the O2 sensor.
Change the one that is on that side and you should be golden.
The lower one that is after the converter should be ok.

Im with Steve on the o2 sensor probably being your check engine lite.

on the power steering issue, I am graspin a straw here, but does the VAPS have all the electrical lines connected??? if it looses the speed sensor signal, it may get stiffer than norm. Mine does when the vss craps while driving (but I loose more than just the variable assist).

otherwise, maybe still some air in the lines for the ps?

The 91 I drive has a VSS headed south. if the weather ever lets up I will take out my trusty Genisis and see what is wrong.
I keep getting dirty looks when ol what's her name sees it, she thinks I paid to much for it.
Like I'd spend the money on her...she dosen't appreciate the finer things in life, like cars. :)

i will wait a few days to see what goes with the power steering .

my biggest problem right now with getting my VSS changed, is my jack is AWOil... the plug fell out of my jack, and all the oil leaked out.... dont know where the plug is either... I have the parts I need sitting in the yard, with right rear jacked up and on a jackstand, other 3 wheels on ground... I need to get it raised up enough for my old fat midsection to fit under it so I can pull the sensor and drive gear. I figure, if I am gonna squirm under it and pull the sensor, I might as well pull the drive gear/shaft at the same time, since with my luck, if I dont, I WILL need to go back after it.

Now, if someone will tell me how/if you can snatch it from above, I will lay on that engine till I get it out!
