Fly down teh highway like a bat outta hell, usually way past the speedo range of 85mph - only ones in a month or so, but it's still fun. Nah, I usually just work on the car, my co-workers used to say she spends more time with the hood open than with the engine running, lol :)

I like to creep through parking lots very slowly at night. Espically if I have to pick someone up. I want it to be as mafioso and suspect as possible. Big black 80's lincolns were standard issue for mob guys I think.

My 15 year old and her buddy did a good one the other evening. While driving our 97 TC "ghetto cruiser" through town at dusk, they spotted two of their boyfriends walking down the road. My 15 year old slammed the brakes, her buddy jumped out of the back seat, and spread eagle jumped onto on of the boys. The boy was scared $h1t le$$ and the girls were lauging so hard I think they peed their pants. Once all was said and done, the two boys and the girl jumped into the back seat, any my daughter proceeded to do a "V8 Dave" with the rear wheel smoking profusely.

I love doing just about anything that people wouldn't expect an "old man car" to do. Flying down the highway with the needle buried and the body whistling would be one of my favorites if the car didn't chug gas when I did it.

I love passing "tuner" cars on curves. Its a total blast embarrassing the tincan fartboxes with a 4200 lb lead sled that can out-handle them with ease. The biggest problem I have with my car on turns is the total lack of side support on those seats. They're a joy for cruising but one really needs to hold on to go whipping around turns. Once I swap the heads out and get a little more go juice under the hood maybe I'll start playing with them at stop lights a bit more. I also need to rebuild the rear so I don't do peg-leg burnouts.

I always wanted to put some bucket seats into my Crown Vic... maybe you should consider that for your Town Car?

And why do they perfer them? because Towncars are have larger trunks with no pull handle, they are body on frame so you can ram things, and they will take more of a beating. Plus the caddies of the mid 90s look like upside down bath tubs.

Ghetto method: If you are going out for a day of cruising the curves, stuff a sweatshirt on either side of your waist and drive with 2 hands for once and your left foot planted forward. Maybe slide the luxo laid back seat up alittle too. I have yet to outhandle my new tires, but I dont try too hard with everything I have in the trunk.

With her new springs (1050lb/in vs. stock about 400) Angie doesn't even lean in corners anymore, so the seat sliding thing was a major issue. Here's my solution to it:

keep in mind that I'm 51 yrs old so I'm no longer a speed demon. For me, sun roof down, windows open, sun is out, cruisin with my girl down Lake Shore Drive (what a view),with Santanta on the CD. Later on, maybe to the Drive Inn Movie and use the huge couch we call a back seat!
Quick funny story...lunch one day with a few guys from work. I'm driving. this one guy was never in the car before and gets in the back. He has an east indian accent and says to me. "sir", this back seat is nicer than the couch I have in my own living room. Lots of room sir and beautiflu soft leather too! Really funny.....you had to have heard it! He was amazed...lol

I very highly doubt you can out handle a "tuner" car on an curve. I realize you've done a lot of suspension work on your car, but that should get you more to stock civic cornering ability. Trust me i've own both, theres no way a lincoln will outhandle a civic with out a lot more work. Escpecially a modified civic.

OK, So it was just a matter of time before the guy that says, "It's All Fun" showed up on this thread. Most of you are aware of my bigblock TC project. (This car will be driven in a legal manner on public streets) That said I'll tell you what fun in my Lincoln is for me.

Dude I think you gave my idea of fun the best! Except, I'm 43-years-old, I don't have a sunroof. But I do have cold a/c, and it's either; Aerosmith or Leppelin in the CD. And we use the "couch in the front seat at the drive in. Other then that I'm right there with ya.

Nick, No offense dude. But my girl is going to start driving next year. And if I EVER see her behave in such a manner, I'll pull her keys and have my lawyer convince DMV that she shouldn't be driving anyway! Am I a prude? That doesn't let his kid have fun or enjoy rites of passage? Spend a week living at my house before you make that call. I'm just a parent who's going to do everything he can to see his kid grow up and have "hopefully" a successful life. Even 21-year-old v8_dave did his "burn out" in a controlled area.
Again, I'm not trying to offend you, only posting my point of view.

I won't debate you or Gadget on this one. Honestly I don't have a clue which one is/could be built better in the curves. But I do know that even an old electra glide "Harley" (not built for cornering will beat the crap out of any car in this case.
Anyway thats all my 02 on "Having fun with my Lincoln"
Whatever it is that makes ya happy just do it in a responsible manner. :)

No offense taken. I remember doing these things when I was younger without parental supervision (oh, and much worse). With my youngest daughter, I have to let her get habits out of her system. She did the "goth" black thing for a while, we tried to stop her, it backfired and she did it more-so. When we gave in, she lost interest and went on to something else. With her; resistance is futile.

Yeah I guess I can understand where your coming from. Without getting in to what I was like as a kid.:faint:

I do have a nephew, thats caused my sister more problems than a damn warhead. I shoudn't brag, I know. But my kid has always been a good kid. She's sharp, pretty and she loves to joke and have fun. But when me or my wife tell her "not" to do something. Thats all there is to it, We've never even come close to spanking her when she was little. The one or two times that I've ever even had to scold her, her face turned red and she teared up. I suppose in your case I'd do the same thing and stay on top of what she does. Good Luck, Dave

Your daughter is much like my eldest daughter, not a mean bone in her body. Never into trouble, is in the top 3 academically in her school, defense attorney in teen court each week, and afraid to break any rules. I will sure miss her when she leaves for Italy and Greece on Thursday morning (and wife too). Then on the 20th, my youngest leaves for a trip with her friend and family to PA for two weeks. Looks like I’ll be the lone ranger. Hope I don’t get caught up in bad habits while they are gone… Most likely up to Michigan to work on our summer home.

I put the "tuner" in quotes for a reason. It mostly applies to the stock junkers with the fart cannon and scaffolding and nothing else that act like they're supercars. This thing will never handle like a properly tuned autocross machine, and I know this very well. Its also riding too tall right now, which doesn't help me any either. It does handle worlds better than a stock box panther, but its probably just on par with a newer police or HPP model Crown Vic. If I lowered it about an inch (which would be about stock height actually) it would help a lot. I just have to find the proper springs for it. Most of the springs I find that would lower it are a substantially higher spring rate than I want to be running for ride comfort reasons.

Yeah, sorry for freaking out on you. It's just difficult loving my big V-8 cruiser just as much as my hi strung turbo 4 banger. The big problem is, most of the domestic v-8 (made in canada and mexico) message boards talk crap about imports, but the imports (mostly made in the usa) hardly ever talk crap about the domestics. I just wish we could alll get along haha.

Red91SiT, you have to realize most real car-nuts guys out there don't really care what vehicle you drive as long as you love it and you're cool, problem is the so-called "ricers" spoil the whole idea of that - that they drive cars that are not what they really are and they know it, we know it too, and they know we know, but they still pretend they are "da shit" - I despise them and I've wasted many of them with my Townie, and will keep doing it just for shit and giggles. On the other hand I absolutely love my friends Mike's and Jeff's Civics, and I put my hat down to anyone who has a real performer car, be it import or not. As for the messege boards... the world is full of idiots, and Internet seems to be their preferred hanging out place - just ignore them and let them be, it's not easy being a wacko ;)

Where? The only cupholders I have are built in the central console, and are currently right under the dashboard, which renders them unusable. I don't really need them anyhow, as the 12oz soda cans I usually take on the road fir perfectly in one of the rectangular compartments of the console.

As many of you know, I chopped the top off my 84 before summer started. A couple of weeks ago went out on a drive with a bunch of friends under a clear starry sky. Amazing. Just one drive will convert even the staunchest skeptic ("You did what to your car? You're a moron").

Good music for driving roofless under the stars is Ray Lamontagne's "Trouble" album.

Yeah, but there's nothing special to it, just bough the console for like $10 at a Meijer and then added the aluminum sheets on the side to keep it stable - the transmission hump narrows as it goes towards the seats, so the console is wider than necessary in the rear end and needed supports.

Talking to a welder right now to strengthen up the B-pillars, still planning on getting some kind of chrome caps to cover up the rough appearance of the cuts. I have been working insane shifts at work recently (summer job) and haven't had as much time for it as I'd like.
