Quick question for all you guys out there in Lincoln Land.

What's a good manufacture of CV half-shafts? Looking online at Advance Auto I have my choice of New shafts from Cardone ($90 a piece), rebuilt Cardone ($66 a piece), or rebuilt Crown ($132.00 a piece). How do these stack up against OEM as far as quality of rebuild (been burned in the past before with rebuilt shafts so crappy they look like they'd been in the junkyard for the last decade), durability (how much power can they handle), and price?

New or remaned, eather way have a life time warrenty.
I think in the 12 years I have behind the parts counter I have seen 2 ever come back for warrenty.
The new are good we sell them and I personally like the quality. The aftermarket has often times reinforced parts that the OEM cut costs on.

C'mon! There's gotta more than TWO people with an opinion on the subject. ;)

(I'll even open it up to post Whoring if that'll get the ball rolling.)

Doesn't matter, when the 4.4L gets a blower you'll need the cryo-treated shafts like the Turbo Honda guys use. ;)

Good question, the Conti needs a new inner boot on one shaft, that one is 18 years old and the other one was replaced at the dealer 10 years ago.

Agreed! But all I can find are the ones that are used on the AcHoCo machines. Nothing that'll fit the Conti. I wonder if any SHO guys use strong shafts? I know they race their's a lot.

These companies aren't gonna stock or even pretend to know what you need, but they can be made...it'll be a special order thing with a lot of butt-kissing and long distance phone calls.

Do the Contis and Tauruses use the same shafts? Might wanna ask the SHO Forum if any super heavy duty ones were ever made.

Well, we all know the rest of the drive train matches up, the only difference I could see in the shafts could be the length (the conti is an inch if anything wider??? :dunno: )

I'll prolly end up posting on their forums like you said - though searches that I've made of their "upgrade" area have turned up nothing.
