Hi
I'm having problems reading the diagnostic codes on a 92 conti. The check engine light on the dash is on constantly. I borrowed a fancy bdm code reader but when I plug it in at the trunk it is unable to communicate with the car and get the codes. I also tried it with a cheapo code reader with the same result.

It seems that if I turn the air ride system off and on that affects the code reader, but I still can't get it to function properly. I've read something about a second plug (used as a ground maybe?), that is also in the trunk. Do only some cars have this? I can't find one on this car.

The car is running well and mileage seems good but the check engine light is bothering me and I don't like the idea of not being able to read codes. Anybody else have this problem? Any help is appreciated,
thanks.

The connector you are looking for is on the plastic cover that is mounted to the firewall. Look on the passenger side.
and welcome to Lincolns Online, I hope you find what you need here.

yup you got the wrong connector... the one your looking for is on firewall, passenger side, right up where its easy to get to, if I recall properly.

the one in the trunk is the A/S connector (exactly the same connector shape, and I think same pinouts, but obviously different computer system).
