Have you tried Lucas Transmission Fix? It claims to fix all small leaks. Some here argue and endorse LubeGuard, but then there are questions about which specific LubeGuard product should be used (red cap, red bottle, green cap, silver bottle, etc., etc...). I'd try the Lucas before spending money on a rebuild since your tranny is only leaking and not slipping/shifting weird/dropping out of gear/shuddering, etc.

It could be a cheap fix, the problem is getting under the car, cleaning it with degreaser, and then looking for the source of the leak.
If you really like the car enough to put a new tranny in it, don't mess around, get a quality rebuilt unit like that Jasper brand I keep on talkin about.

*insert standard Jasper Tranny plug*
This is what Jasper has over the POS that Ford calls a transmssion......
***The turbine speed sensor is included with this unit.
1. A NEW EPC solenoid is installed for consistant pressure control.
2. A NEW boost valve kit is installed in the valve body for improved
line pressure control.
3. The forward clutch is changed to the latest design steel piston to
prevent cracking.
4. The by-pass clutch control valve is updated due to it being a high
wear area.

6. A NEW front drive shell and planet assembly are installed for
extended life.
7. To prevent gear train failure, updated lube tubes are installed.
