Lincoln kills the Mark series in 1998. Then the Continental in 2002. The LS in 2006. Now the Town Car and the Zephyr in 2007. And to top it all off, they changed the pronounciation of their latest lineup.
Bravo Lincoln, you still don't know what to CALL your products, much less what to do with them once they hit the market.

"Memo to Lincoln: copying Cadillac's naming strategy is not cool."
Yep.
So..... instead of saying "Mark Z" I'm now supposed to say "Em Kay Zee"?

Ditto!!!!!!!! I wanted to look up one of Caddy's truck specs, and it took me forever to translate the name.....
Lincoln has a great asset in the name Town Car and Continental (to a lesser, historical extent, Zephyr). Iconic names are so important to companies that Bell South bought the remains of AT&T just to have the name.
Not really a better idea........

All names aside, I'm just hoping this entire platform is of good enough quality to earn some respect from the import crowd. Ford needs it.
What's your take, Pro (or others?), think the CD3 might be even close to a Camry/Accord fighter?

I'm hoping it will. The hardware itself has fared pretty well on the Mazda 6, not as well as Camry and Accord on the reliability scale, however. Those things are either hard to judge or real subjective.
Provided the 6-speed stands the test of time and Ford didn't put the screws to their parts suppliers and request a flimsy part somewhere important (like the firestone tires or the flaming Cruise Control fiasco) they should be fine.

I never intended to grace any of them with the "Mark" name to begin with.

That reminds me, you need to rename the "Zephyr Archive" like you did this forum. :p:hide:
