I have a 95 Conti for which I picked up from a junk yard four 16" aluminium directional rims with tires (Tires "fair", as the song goes) for $35 each. Two of the tires are 215/55 R16's and two are 225/60 R16's. Is there any reason I shouldn't put the 225/60's on the front and the 215/55's on the rear?

I'm inclined to agree - could mess up the Traction Control/ABS sensors located at each wheel.

Well you are keeping the front a stock size so speedo, traction, front abs will stay the same. Rear ABS will be different though. Plus its not cool to have smaller tires in the back. ;)

Unless you are flat broke, mix 'n match tires are not a good idea.

Thanks to all...
Given the universally negative reaction, I guess I'll try to find a couple of OEM-sized tires. Meanwhile, I'm driving with the mixed sizes and haven't noticed anything strange yet.
