I've got a 96 Cont. I was woken up because the car's horn was blaring constantly. The headlights were not flashing like it was the alarm. The only way I could get it to shut off was to disconnect the battery. Does anyone have a clue about what may have caused this?

I had this exact same problem the very night I brought my car home . It is an alarm related problem
It turned out to be the driver's side door switch. But before you run to the dealer try this:

If no success than it's probably one of your door switches or possibly the hood switch. These stock alarm systems suck as simple dirty connections can send the car into a frenzy :)
