What kind of alternator output does the car have? Is the battery full of electrolyte in all the cells? Will the battery take a charge (and hold it overnight) from an external battery charger?

the batter will hold enought over night to turn the lights on and turn the radio on the next morning
not shure the other things ytou are asking for i was told to atach the jumper negative cable to the alternator brace grounder
i can hur it want to start up for like half a second but it just wont

INVEST in a voltmeter of some kind. A battery that's fully charged one day will read at least 12.5 volts the next morning. A properly charging alternator will produce >14 volts cold, and shouldn't drop below 13.2 volts hot, even with all accessories on.

Well, go buy a battery charger. The car WON'T charge a really dead battery, and isn't designed to do it either. If you get it running and try, you will just cook the battery, and maybe take out your alternator at the same time.

A 6 amp charger will take about 18 hours to fully charge a dead battery. If you have killed the battery a few times, you just might be wasting your time. Auto battteries die a quick death if they are deep discharged.

Don't know about the 95 and up Conti's, but the 88-94 ones can kill a battery in 2 years by overheating it. The engine compartment is just too damn hot for long battery life.

It's cheaper to buy a new battery than to replace the alternator and all of the wiring...I had to do that to a Cadillac that I owned, the battery got too low to charge correctly and it wiped out the alternator and te wiring harness. Be smart, and change the battery ;)

looks like the only thing that you can do is replace the battery. I had the same problem with my conti's battery,(after leaving it for a month) tried charging it and jump starting it (did start but didn't start without a jump from another car)but in the end the battery didn't charge.

Put the battery on an external 6-amp charger and let it charge for at least a day; if the battery is only two years old, it shouldn't have gone bad. If the battery won't hold/take a charge with a separate charger, it IS bad, and a new one is required. A two-year old battery that goes bad should have a warrantee that gives you a new one, FREE.

Also have a look the ground cable to the engine and the terminals on the starter solenoid, any corrosion there won't help any.
Recharge the battery first and get out a DVM and measure voltage drops in the starter circuit.

ok i took the batter back to wallmart they sayd it was dead so they tried to charge it but they sayd it woudlnt take charge they gave me new battery i just got home and put it in car
ok everything works but i can not get the car to start still
i here a clicking when i turn the key in the ignition but no rumbl or no starting noise
what could be rong all of what i read sounds intrested somthing with the start but can someone show me a diagram and a picture of where the starter would be on a 95 continental and where the wires for it run to please thank you

It sounds like the starter has gone bad; replace it. The starter motor is under the engine where the click is heard when turning the key to Start. About that: if the starter is locked up, stop trying to start it, since the current draw will kill the new battery in a short time. It's time to have a mechanic work on the problem.

Usually a clicking starter is a sign of a bad battery or corroded connections. It could be a bad starter as well, but I would verify that the battery Walmart gave you is in fact good, and that there is no corrosion on the battery terminals or the solenoid terminals.

I can't remember is your car uses a solenoid built onto the starter or if it is on the passenger front fender.

Solenoid is on the driver's side inner fender, just behind the battery.
