Hi to all! I'm living in Moscow, Russia. Just bought a 1998 Continental. Can you say about most common problems in it? My previous car was 1995 Grand Marquis. But i like Lincoln better.
Sorry for my English:)

Welcome, glad to see an FLM owner in Russia!

These cars are great. You will experience electrical gizmos malfunctioning, transmission issues after 150K, rear air bags in a few years...but really a great car overall. Very quick, right?

I have the exact same car(!!) except no tinted windows (yet!), only I'm in Pennsylvania, USA. Traded up from a Crown Vic(LX) too, didn't realize what an upgrade in ride and comfort it was 'till I'd had it out on the highway for a while. Enjoy!! It really is a beautiful car.

Hi, Aleksandr.

Welcome to Lincolns Online.
Your English is fine in fact I understand it better then I do some of the regulars in here. ;)
The car looks very nice, I also like the color.
I hope you hang around a while and share a few more pictures and any input you would have.:D

I wouldn't worry about the car so much with a hot looking lady like that at your side.

All joking aside, keep the transmission happy (frequent fluid changes) and you should be set. Front drive vehicles are notorious for transmission failure, so keep that fluid clean and new!

Edit: Bet you can blow old Lada's off the road with that Conti!

Yes, quick! After deal we had some beer...and my friend started talk about test-drive. He is owner of Audi A4 2,4 V6 170 hp. And this night Lincoln showed 8.8 sec to 100 km/h on my TIMEX chronograph:)
Car already wrote CHECK TRACTION CONTROL on message display, this message gone for the next starting engine.

What a cool car to have in Russia! Welcome, we will help you out whenever possible.

Transmission failure is the main problem. Big engine, small transmission, yes? Change transmission fluid every 2-3 years and you'll never need to worry about it.

Ya, sensors, and electrical issues are going to kill you with this car.

The books say that it's average/good as far as mechanical probs for cars in its class. The Crown Vic/Grand Marq/TC is rated Excellent, so you'll have more issues than your Grnd Mqse, but not more than the average luxury car. Just keep up on the basic maintenance and expect to replace things when they get old...by the way, replacement costs are higher than the Grnd Mqse too...but so is the ride and luxury.

Looks nice! I'm sure you won't see too many more on the Russian roads. And they've got the great DOHC 4.6 engine too...hope you enjoy it!

You hardly see any Conti's here in Los Angeles....it's gotta be super super rare in Moscow....too bad it doesn't look like you have the seated heats!!! Here in LA I don't need them, but I think you might enjoy them in Russia!!!

There is about 300 88-94 Continental in Moscow, as Tauruses and Sables. 98-02 is only three...)

The car has a front heated seats. Turns ON on a door side of seat by small two position switch.

Aleksandr,
Welcome to the forum, there are some of the nicest people on the planet here, they have helped through all kinds of problems, just when I thought I was worrying the stew out of them, they were always there for me.
They worked me through any problem that I had.
I have a 1996 Conti and am about to rid myself of the air-spring problem, I am too old to be always working on it, going to replace the air-springs with coil springs, but going to keep the passive shocks so I can use the ride control feature.
So Nos Binoina to you guys, maybe not spelled correctly, but anyway, welcome aboard.
